In the latest episode from P-Valley Season 2, it was almost “re-re-reopening” time for The Pynk. The club had been closed for months as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but as restrictions began to relax, Hailey and Uncle Clifford started making preparations to return to work. Unfortunately, the discord between them only continued, putting a damper on what should’ve been an exciting moment for the girls.

‘P-Valley’ Season 2 Episode 2 opened with auditions at The Pynk

As part of the reopening, Hailey decided to hire new talent. After a thrilling round of auditions, she wound up picking two dancers, Whisper and Roulette, and a bartender, Big Bone. Unsatisfied with some of those picks, Uncle Clifford and Mercedes tried to protest, but Hailey promptly shut them down. It was a cold reminder that, as the new boss of The Pynk, she has the final say.

While they were talking, they were interrupted by Corbin Kyle, who was there to make another offer for The Pynk. He offered $500,000 to be exact, which is “15 times more” than the market value. But for Hailey, the club is worth way more. She put the value at $10 million, which he found laughable. With neither side budging, he decided to leave, departing on the promise that he’d get his hands on the club eventually.

In conversation, it was mentioned that Hailey had moved the date of the reopening up. Now, it would fall on Uncle Clifford’s birthday. This led to a heated conversation between them in a back office that ultimately ended with Uncle Clifford storming out and leaving Hailey to work the reopening alone.

The Lil Murda and Keyshawn tour began to gain steam

Back at home, Uncle Clifford sunk into a depressed state over turning 40, lamenting that he was still living with his grandma and had no love life. She was in her room crying when there was a knock at the front door; it was Lil Murda. Grandma Ernestine was excited to see him, but Uncle Clifford — still upset with him over what happened on Murda Night — was not. She decided to hide behind a door to prevent him from seeing her.

Noticing her reflection in a mirror, Lil Murda mentioned to Ernestine how he’s been trying to contact Clifford to no avail and how sorry he is about what happened. He just wanted to share that before leaving for tour with Keyshawn, who has just gotten Derrick to agree to let her go on the road. Watching them, it’s clear that Uncle Clifford also misses Lil Murda. But her feelings are still so hurt by how he dissed her.

Reopening time in ‘P-Valley’ Season 2

Before long, it was the night of the reopening. It was a packed house — proof to never underestimate Hailey. But at the same time, there were bizarre things happening around the club, particularly in the Paradise Room, where Montavius appeared to lose his life in P-Valley Season 1.

Despite that, Mercedes moved forward and joined Roulette and Whisper on the stage. They were all doing their thing, but Roulette and Whisper really had the crowd going with their difficult pole moves and techniques. As she watched them dance, Mercedes’ insecurities over her age and ability to perform got the best of her, because she climbed up a pole to do a trick despite her arm injury and wound up crashing down.

When Uncle Clifford got the call about Mercedes, she rushed over from her birthday party, where she’d been hooking up with some new guy, to help her. The hospitals were at full capacity, so she and Hailey took Mercedes to Diamond, who helped heal her with rootwork.

Amazed by what he did, they offered Diamond his job back at The Pynk. It would definitely come in handy now that Derrick has gotten him fired over his altercation with Keyshawn. But it’s still too painful for him to be there.

Kicked out

They were leaving Diamond’s when Mercedes decided to confront Hailey, unloading on her for all the drama she’d brought to her life over the past few months — from Montavius to the stuff at the club. She felt she needed space and told Hailey she needed to move out immediately.

With nowhere to go, Hailey went to sleep at The Pynk, where she was greeted by Andre Watkins. They briefly talked business, with Hailey admitting that she would sell the club to them for the right price, even if Uncle Clifford was against it. But the conversation turned personal when she asked him about coming back to town. Andre thanked her for getting him to come back to pay his respects to his godfather Tydell Ruffin and hugged her close.
