Patrick Mahomes Found Out He Made the Madden 99 Club in the Most Adorable Way
Patrick Mahomes is in training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Before his fiancée Brittany Matthews and 5-month-old daughter, Sterling Skye, sent him off to camp, Mahomes found out that he made the Madden 99 club in the most adorable way.

Just days after Mahomes and the Chiefs fell to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV, the quarterback and his future bride welcomed their daughter, Sterling Skye. She arrived on February 20, 2021, and weighed in at 6 lbs, 11 oz.
At first, Mahomes and Matthews decided not to show their daughter’s face in photos. But the Chiefs QB says that they quickly got tired of “hiding her from everybody.” In June, the couple shared the first photos of their daughter’s face on social media, with the caption, “Hello World!”
They opted to keep the first months private
Mahomes told People magazine that he and Matthews didn’t want to share photos of Sterling at first because they wanted to “keep that stuff personal.” However, keeping her image a secret wasn’t easy, and it started to become a chore.
“It wasn’t that we were trying to show her to the world I guess in a sense, we were just tired of having to hide her everywhere we went. We wanted her to be a part of our lives because she is such a big part of it,” Mahomes explained.
“… It [gave us] a little relief off our backs that we didn’t have to hide her everywhere and we could show her to the world and let them enjoy her as much as we do every single day.”

As soon as Mahomes and Matthews decided to share their daughter with the world, she became a social media star. She regularly appears on her parents’ respective Instagram pages. And, it was the 5-month-old who broke the news to her dad that he made the Madden 99 Club.
In a short video clip, Matthews carried Sterling into the room where Mahomes was waiting and she says, “Sterling’s got something to tell you!” That’s when she revealed the baby’s adorable onesie, which had a special message.
“My dad is in the 99 Club again,” the onesie read. Mahomes replied, “Nice! The best surprise ever!”
The quarterback isn’t the only Kansas City Chief in the Madden 99 Club
EA Sports announced in July 2021 that Mahomes would be on the cover of the Madden 22 video game along with Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady. To build some buzz, they have gradually released the initial ratings for players at all positions.
This includes their 99 Club, which are players who begin the season with a 99. In addition to Mahomes, other 99’rs include Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Packers receiver Davante Adams, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Patrick Mahomes is getting married after the 2021-22 season
Matthews and Sterling recently sent Mahomes off to training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. Before he left, the QB got the chance to snuggle with his daughter and take some pics, which Matthews shared on her Instagram Story.
Mahomes is currently focused on getting back to the Super Bowl for a third straight year. When the season’s over, he and Matthews are getting married. And, their “hope” is that their daughter will be part of the big day.
“She’ll be, I think, a little over a year old by the time the wedding happens. So hopefully she’ll be able to be the flower girl and be able to be walking by then and do all that cool stuff,” he revealed. “But she’ll be a part of the wedding no matter what.”
