It can be hard to drum up sympathy for the elite among us. After all, celebrities often have way more access to resources than everyday people to make the ins and outs of living their lives a bit easier.

With their enormous houses filled with every luxury imaginable and their private nannies and personal chefs, it just doesn’t seem fair for them to compare their workloads to those of people living with far less help at their disposal.

When Khloé Kardashian took to social media to complain about being “tired,” some fans were not amused. However, others recognized that her comments were about something larger than herself and came to her defense.

Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to criticism over her social media presence. The reality TV star has definitely stepped into some controversies in her time in the spotlight. A lot of commenters have taken issue with Kardashian’s appearance. In particular, some of her posted photos have been edited in ways that have fans calling Kardashian out for cultural appropriation. Kardashian, these critics claim, attempts to take on Black features in her photographs.

Even more pointed, fans have been very upset with Kardashian lately for what they see as not taking tragedies seriously. When the star — who frequently uses her platform to sponsor posts for brands — posted a marketing ploy in the middle of the pandemic, fans were irate.

They saw Kardashian as out of touch and uncaring, ignoring the more than 150,000 Americans who have died from the disease and the economic havoc it has wreaked upon the country.

In a recent tweet, Kardashian posted simply “2020 we are tired sis!!!! TIRED!!”

The backlash was immediate. Commenters began responding to point out that Kardashian has way more resources than most of the other people reading her tweet do to handle the stress of 2020.

Some fans came to Khloe Kardashian’s defense

While many people were upset about the comments and saw them as out of touch, others came to Kardashian’s defense. The conversation sparked a Reddit thread where fans were similarly torn in their response. There, too, many voiced support for Kardashian’s perspective and her right to voice her own exhaustion about the state of the world.

“I think she knows [she’s] extremely privileged, [she’s] just addressing all the chaos that is going on in the world like corona and the social injustices. It just sucks all around to see the world in such turmoil, and you [don’t] need to be a person who [isn’t] as extremely well off like the [K]ardashians to understand that its upsetting. Privilege has nothing to do with how sucky everything is right now and the state of our world affects everyone. Some people it affects more than others, but [there’s] no need to be combative about a tweet [that’s] really not that insensitive,” one commenter wrote.

Another pointed out that Kardashian is always going to have more resources than most of the world, so it doesn’t make sense to be mad at her in this particular moment: “she’s allowed to be ‘over it’ just like the rest of the world! It’s not like she said she was tired of not being able to…xyz. I also get that people resent her for being able to live the good life when a lot of people are struggling, but that’s every day, not just during Corona.”
