People’s Choice Awards: Lil Nas X Won Male Artist of 2021 — Here’s Who Else Was Nominated
The 2021 People’s Choice Awards aired on E! on Dec. 7. At the award show, Lil Nas X was nominated for Male Artist of 2021, Social Star of 2021, Album of 2021, Song of 2021, Music Video of 2021, and Collaboration Song of 2021. Lil Nas X ended up taking home the award for Male Artist of 2021, beating several popular artists.
Lil Nas X won Male Artist of 2021 at the People’s Choice Awards
At the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, there were eight nominees for Male Artist of 2021. Lil Nas X ended up winning the award for the first time. He was previously nominated for Male Artist of 2019.
In the Male Artist of 2021 category, Lil Nas X won over Bad Bunny, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Luke Combs, Shawn Mendes, and The Weeknd.

Lil Nas X received multiple music nominations at the People’s Choice Awards
While Male Artist of 2021 was the only award Lil Nas X won on Dec. 7, the rapper earned multiple nominations at the award show.
For Song of 2021, Lil Nas X’s song “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” was nominated alongside “Butter” by BTS, Sheeran’s “Bad Habits,” “Easy On Me” by Adele, “good 4 u” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Peaches” by Bieber featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, “STAY” by The Kid LAROI and Bieber, and Cardi B’s song “Up.” BTS’ song “Butter” won the category.
In the Album of 2021 category, Rodrigo won for her album Sour. She was nominated against Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Culture III by Migos, Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever, Bieber’s Justice, Lil Nas X’s album MONTERO, Planet Her by Doja Cat, and star-crossed by Kacey Musgraves.
The music video for Lil Nas X’s song “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” received a nomination for Music Video of 2021. In the category, BTS’ music video for “Butter” won.
Adele’s music video for “Easy On Me,” Rodrigo’s music video for “good 4 u,” the music video for “STAY” by The Kid LAROI and Bieber, Coldplay and BTS’ music video for “My Universe,” the music video for “Peaches” by Bieber, Caesar, and Giveon, and the “LOCATION” music video by KAROL G, Anuel AA, and J Balvin also received nominations.
For Collaboration of 2021, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s song “Industry Baby” was nominated. The Kid LAROI and Bieber won Collaboration of 2021 for “STAY.”
The rapper earned a pop culture nomination at the People’s Choice Awards
In addition to receiving nominations in the music category, Lil Nas X was also nominated for Social Star of 2021 at the People’s Choice Awards.
Britney Spears won the award, beating Lil Nas X, Addison Rae, Charli D’Amelio, Dwayne Johnson, Bieber, Kim Kardashian West, and Kylie Jenner.
