Ben Savage turned down the ‘Boy Meets World’ podcast because it’s ‘not his thing’

In the first episode, the trio addresses some of fans’ most frequently asked questions. The number one question they get asked is: “Where’s Cory?” In other words, “Where is Ben Savage?”

“Ben Savage is doing his own thing,” Fishel explains. “He’s doing Lifetime movies, he’s busy. We would love for him to have been apart of the show — we asked him to be part of the show.”

According to Fishel, the Boy Meets World podcast was Strong’s idea and they’ve been talking about it since 2018. “It was before Office Ladies — it was before rewatch podcasts were even a thing,” Fishel elaborates. “We talked about it with Ben and [he] was like, ‘I’m not sure it’s really my thing.'”

After taking some meetings to pitch the podcast, Fishel and company returned to Savage and asked him to be part of it. “He said, ‘It really is just not my thing.’ We have respected that and it’s not his thing.” Regardless, Fishel, Friedle, and Strong remain friends with their former co-star.
