Ben Savage played Boy Meets World’s titular role Cory Matthews. Surprisingly, the actor isn’t part of iHeartRadio’s Boy Meets World rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World. The show’s hosts and former Boy Meets World stars Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong explain why Savage chose not to participate in the rewatch podcast.

Ben Savage turned down the ‘Boy Meets World’ podcast because it’s ‘not his thing’
In the first episode, the trio addresses some of fans’ most frequently asked questions. The number one question they get asked is: “Where’s Cory?” In other words, “Where is Ben Savage?”
“Ben Savage is doing his own thing,” Fishel explains. “He’s doing Lifetime movies, he’s busy. We would love for him to have been apart of the show — we asked him to be part of the show.”
According to Fishel, the Boy Meets World podcast was Strong’s idea and they’ve been talking about it since 2018. “It was before Office Ladies — it was before rewatch podcasts were even a thing,” Fishel elaborates. “We talked about it with Ben and [he] was like, ‘I’m not sure it’s really my thing.'”
After taking some meetings to pitch the podcast, Fishel and company returned to Savage and asked him to be part of it. “He said, ‘It really is just not my thing.’ We have respected that and it’s not his thing.” Regardless, Fishel, Friedle, and Strong remain friends with their former co-star.
Ben Savage is still making movies and TV shows
After Boy Meets World, Savage had several other roles in popular kids shows, including Phil of the Future (via IMDb). He starred in TV movies like Making it Legal and Lake Effects, among other shows, shorts, and feature-length films.
In 2014, Savage reprised his role as Cory Matthews in the Disney Channel sequel Girl Meets World. When the show ended in 2017, Savage went on to do TV shows like The Leftovers, Still the King, Speechless, Criminal Minds, and Homeland.
Later, in 2020, Savage starred in the Hallmark holiday film Love, Lights, Hanukkah! More recently, Savage starred in Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez. The Lifetime movie came out in February 2022.
Pod Meets World will be available on iHeartRadio and everywhere podcasts are heard.
