Plenty of Royal Family Fans Believe Prince Charles Is Not Prince Harry’s Real Father
It’s no secret that Prince Charles and Princess Diana had a tumultuous train wreck of a marriage. These two may have looked great together, but they were ultimately ill-suited to each other in every way. Plus there was the pesky detail that the Prince of Wales was in love with another woman.
The problems in Charles and Diana’s marriage began even before they walked down the aisle. By the time Prince Harry joined the family in 1984, the couple could barely tolerate each other. But are the rumors true?

Prince Harry looks like someone Princess Diana had an affair with
Princess Diana tried to make her marriage work. However, she was deeply hurt that her husband still loved his ex-girlfriend Camilla. She retaliated by seeking the solace of other partners as well.
No one is precisely sure when these affairs took place. But royal followers do know that one of Diana’s trysts happened with British Army officer James Hewitt. And as Prince Harry aged, it became clear that he and Hewitt had striking physical similarities. Most notable is that both have flaming red hair, which isn’t a common trait in the royal family.
Physical comparisons between Harry and Hewitt have some fans convinced that he’s not a legitimate son of Prince Charles. Even close to four decades after Harry’s birth they’re still perpetuating these rumors.
James Hewitt denies the claim that he could be Prince Harry’s father
Though it would make for a shocking royal scandal, there is one person who categorically denies the possibility of Prince Harry having a different dad. Hewitt admits that he had a sexual relationship with Princess Diana. But he insists it began long after Prince Harry was born.
“When I first met Diana, Harry was already a toddler,” Hewitt once told The Daily Mirror. “I can understand the interest, but Harry was already walking by the time my relationship with Diana began. Admittedly, the red hair is similar to mine, and people say we look alike.”
He concluded, “I have never encouraged these comparisons, and although I was with Diana for a long time, I must state once and for all that I’m not Harry’s father.”
Red hair runs in Princess Diana’s family
So where does that signature ginger hair come from? It has origins on Diana’s side. The Princess of Wales’ sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale has red hair and her brother Earl Spencer was also a redhead during youth.
Though it’s easy to see the similarities between Harry and his mom, there are also a few similarities with his father Prince Charles. It’s true that Diana and Charles’ oldest son William looks more like his father’s side. But childhood photos of Charles prove that Harry also shares physical traits with his dad.
Prince Charles famously made a very rude comment after Harry’s birth. He had already told Diana he was hoping for a girl and made no secret of his gender disappointment. “His first comment was, ‘Oh God, it’s a boy.’ His second: ‘And he’s even got red hair,’” Diana recalled.
The Prince of Wales eventually got over it and has a good relationship with Harry now.
