Porsha Williams Is Defending Monique Samuels In Samuels’ Fight With Candiace Dillard

Several of Monique Samuels’ co-stars on RHOP find her to be the more guilty party in her fight with Candiace Dillard. But RHOA star Porsha Williams is not one to write Samuels off. She says she can relate to Samuels, as she notoriously fought with Kenya Moore during her second season of the show.

A recap of Porsha Williams’ fight with Kenya Moore

Both Moore and Williams joined the RHOA cast in season 5. From the beginning, the two women had issues. Moore believed Williams lacked maturity and was a pampered and ditsy housewife. Williams accused Moore of being jealous of her life as a young newlywed.

The two nearly came to blows during the season 5 cast trip to Anguilla. Moore kicked Williams out of a charity event in the season finale. According to Moore, her issues with Williams began when Williams got her title of Miss USA mixed up with Miss America. Williams insisted it was a mistake and that she was willing to move forward but says Moore was unwilling to.

By season 6, Williams was going through the process of divorce. She says Moore used her heartache to further attack her. The two argued during the season 6 reunion special, slinging various insults toward one another. Moore brought several props with her, including a scepter and a bullhorn.

Moore pointed the scepter at Williams, which Williams snatched out of her hand and threw onto the ground. When Moore began yelling at Williams through the bullhorn, Williams jumped up, pulled Williams’ hair, and dragged her across the floor. She was escorted from the reunion as a result but told Andy Cohen that Moore’s behavior was provoking.

The two women have had an uphill battle since their fight. They briefly made amends during season 12 but by the reunion special were at odds again.

Porsha Williams says Monique Samuels should not be judged and says she can relate to what Samuels is going through

Williams stands by her feelings that Moore’s behavior was provoking. Despite such, she does regret how she reacted and says she’s had to learn to walk away from escalating confrontations.

In the aftermath of Samuels and Dillard’s fight, Williams is sympathetic toward Samuels. The two share a close friendship and she says through their personal conversations, she understands why Samuels reacted in the manner in which she did. She also praises Samuels for speaking with her co-stars and apologizing to them for her behavior.

“It was big of her to sit y’all down because that is very difficult to do,” Williams tells Gizelle Bryant in a virtual conversation. “She has to own her part, which I feel she has, but she doesn’t know if Candiace has owned her part yet. So for her to take the initiative to go ahead and do it first, it’s tough. And y’all are a tough crowd you have to admit that, Gizelle. You came in and you were like you shouldn’t have done this.”

As for how Williams got through her the incident, she says anger management helped.

“I went to anger management because I needed to go at the time,” she says. “Here’s the thing about anger management: the first thing that they tell you when you sit down is that this is not about your anger. You being angry, you being upset, you being all of that is an emotion. It’s you just being able to control and be aware of what you’re feeling.”

Williams believes Samuels will learn from the incident and is hopeful that Samuels and Dillard can move forward and resolve their issues.
