There were plenty of jaw-dropping moments in the Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 finale as Tariq St. Patrick raced to figure out his next move. Tasha St. Patrick’s return was a pleasant surprise for fans who’d wondered about her fate since entering witness protection. But it also raised the question of whether she’ll appear on the show again.

While the ending does give Tasha some closure, show creator Courtney Kemp said she doesn’t think her story is “complete” just yet.

How ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ brought back Tasha

By the end of Power Book II: Ghost Season 2, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) had successfully stopped Yasmine St. Patrick’s (Paris Morgan) adoption. But his life had become so chaotic that he knew he couldn’t give her the kind of life she needed, either.

The next thing we knew, Tameika Washington (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) was in West Virginia visiting the home of a woman named Vanessa Edwards, who was revealed to be Tasha (Naturi Naughton). Tameika brought Yasmine along with new identification and organized to have the pair move to Indiana, barring them from any contact with Tariq.

Will Tasha return to the show?

While Tasha seems less likely to appear in upcoming episodes, it sounds like she could pop up again in the future.

I feel like it’s not complete,” she told Entertainment Weekly of Tasha’s story. “Although, now you see a big piece of what Tariq’s overarching story will be going forward, which is, he is going to really be looking for the reunification of his family — how is he going to join them? The most important thing when you set up a series is, what does the character want? And Tariq wants his family back. So we’ll see.”

Kemp teased that in order to be with his family again, “[Tariq is] going to need money, he’s going to need time, he’s going to need influence, he’s going to need a lot of different help to get there.”

“At the end of the day, you saw he still needed Tameika,” she noted. “He still needed all these, for lack of a better way of putting it, what we would say to my daughter, he needed his grownups to help him. So the journey is still for Tariq to become a man, full on his own, and reunite his family.”

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 to up the stakes for Tariq

Tariq’s journey will be complicated, especially because he’s landed on Blanca Rodriguez’s (Monique Curnen) radar. Blanca, as fans know, recognized him on surveillance footage at Mecca’s penthouse and will be focusing the investigation into his death on Tariq.

“She is definitely going to try to get Tariq,” Kemp noted. “And, as our law enforcement ranks shrink in the show, it is always interesting to have characters that the audience has a long history with. The audience is going to have very strong opinions about what Blanca decides to do in season 3 and how she plans to attack Tariq.”

“So this is going to be a really interesting move, because she’s going to be pursuing him for something that really he’s not guilty of at all,” she added.
