The third season of Power Book II: Ghost is currently in production. While Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) was initially juggling his work as a college student with his work as a drug dealer to help his family, it has become much more than that. Following in his late father, James “Ghost” St. Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick) footsteps, Tariq has learned that is very hard to step away from the game.

Now, Rainey is sharing some insight about what fans can expect from season 3.

Tariq will go through some major changes in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3

At the end of the second season of Ghost, Tariq had a plan to get out of the drug game for good. He plotted to blackmail Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) for $2 million dollars which would have aided him in reuniting his family. However, Mecca was killed before Tariq got his money.

Now, Tariq has found himself still tethered to the Tejada family since he needs Monet (Mary J. Blige) and Lorenzo (Berto Colon) as much as they need him. Without anyone to turn to aside from his best friend Brayden (Gianni Paolo) and his lover Effie (Alix Lapri), things are only going to get more challenging for him.

“He’s going to go through some changes,” Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp explained during an Instagram Live. “He’s going to be really alone.”

We also know that Brayden and Effie are hiding a very dark secret about what really happened to Tariq’s ex-girlfriend, Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd) from him. When he finds out the truth, we think things are going to get vicious.

Filming for the third season of Ghost is currently underway in New York City. However, as expected, Starz as well as the cast and crew are keeping the plot for the new season under wraps. Thankfully, Rainey has given fans some plot points that they can look forward to.

“To be honest with you, I have no clue,” he told PopSugar. “I just know that Tariq’s going to be making some money and obviously he’s going to be fighting a lot, because he’s trying to figure out what’s going on with Lauren and how her situation went because he doesn’t really know what happened. Then, like we said, between Brayden and Effie, they’re trying to hold that truth for him. So that’s going to be another thing to unfold. It’s going to be a lot going on.”

Tariq is transforming into Ghost

More than just uncovering the truth about his friends, Tariq has also found himself slowly transforming into his father, something he never wanted for himself.

In a recent Instagram Live, Kemp explained, “A lot of you guys are constantly talking about Ghost coming back,” she said. “Without going into super detail, what I will definitely say is that part of the reason why I started writing this show was about my father’s death. The thing about that and what I’m really trying to demonstrate is that Tariq is Ghost on earth. Tariq is Ghost alive. He is learning things and changing before our very eyes. Tariq is growing into a man.”
