Power Book II: Ghost has been on hiatus since early 2021, with fans desperately clambering for new episodes. The series follows Tariq St. Parick (Michael Rainey Jr.) in the aftermath of his father, James “Ghost” St. Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick) murder. Though Tariq has always been determined to separate himself from his father, his double life, the one he has as a college student and the other as a member of the Tejada crime organization has transformed him into Ghost.

As fans await the debut of season two of the series, has Power Book II: Ghost been renewed for a third season?

When will ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 premiere?

As soon as the first season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan comes to a close, Starz will debut the highly anticipated second season of Power Book II: Ghost. After months of speculation, the network announced that the new episodes of Ghost will return in November 2021.

Considering where things left off for Tariq and the Tejada family at the end of the first season of the series, fans are going to be in for quite the roller coaster ride. However, the second season of Power Book II: Ghost is only the tip of the iceberg.

Fans believe that a third season of the series is also on the horizon.

Michael Rainey Jr. says ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ has been renewed for season 3

Amid so many new Power series, there is a playful rivalry amongst the casts and fans. In an effort to squash the noise about an actual war between Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Rainey has seemingly revealed that Ghost has already been greenlit for season three.

During a recent Instagram Live, the 20-year-old actor responded to a troll. “We are already renewed for season 3. So, what do you want me to do with that information,” he said. “That is not useful. As soon as we are done with [season 2] two more months of break and we back filming season three, while y’all watching season 2. So, they can get renewed, but we are going to get renewed as well. Come on baby!”

Starz had not yet confirmed the third season of Ghost. However, Power creator Courtney Kemp says she envisions the show going on for years to come. “I think I have, in my mind I have five or six seasons,” she told Deadline. “The big shift that would happen in season 5, the big shift that I’m planning for season 5 would take the show in a direction where frankly it could go on forever. The show could go for 10 seasons or more considering that shift and it’s a big shift. But if that yeah, we could go forward for sure and do some fun stuff. But that depends on whether we make it there.”

What is ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 about?

Before we get to season three and beyond of Power Book II: Ghost, Tariq is going to be dealing with quite a lot in the forthcoming season.

“Where we had begun an encroachment of his drug life into his school life with the incidents that took place in episode 8 with the attempt on his life and the body in the pool, now his whole drug life is crashed into his campus life in a real way,” Kemp told Entertainment Weekly. “And Tariq definitely feels like he’s walking around as a ticking time bomb.”
