‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2: New Teaser Video Reveals A Conflict Between Characters

Things will get intense in the second season of 'Power Book II: Ghost,' the Starz series following James St. Patrick's son, Tariq, after his death. But not just for the teen. A new teaser reveals a conflict between several other characters on the show.

Starz has unveiled a new teaser trailer for the second season of Power Book II: Ghost. The show is the second chapter in the Power universe and follows Michael Rainey Jr.’s Tariq St. Patrick as he navigates life after the death of his father, Ghost.

Tasked with taking care of his family, Tariq begins selling drugs just like his dad. He finds himself working with the Tejada crime family, which creates a new set of problems for the teen. But Tariq isn’t the one in trouble in the new teaser.

What to expect in the second season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

The next season of Power Book II: Ghost begins shortly after the murder of Professor Jabari Reynolds. Jabari had been blackmailing Tariq into letting him write a book on his life in exchange for his silence about his criminal dealings, which Tariq accepted. But he was shot by Cane Tejada, who had overheard the conversation. Tariq finished the job and got rid of the evidence. But the heat is coming down.

The logline for Power Book II: Ghost Season 2, shared by Entertainment Weekly, reads:

Forced into the choice to take the life of his professor, Jabari Reynolds, Tariq finds himself drifting further from that which he’s been fighting to protect: his family. With Tasha in witness protection, Tariq knows he must sacrifice anything to save what’s left of his family. Unable to do it alone, he turns to those wielding power and influence: Davis MacLean and his new partner, Cooper Saxe, as well as Rashad Tate. All of these options come with a steep price, so it’s back to business with the Tejadas. However, with two murders involving Stansfield, Monet Tejada has to question if Tariq is what’s best for her family as she seeks to protect her nephew’s professional basketball prospects at all costs.

The teaser, shared on the show’s official Instagram page, depicts Cane catching up to Lil Guap and newcomer Mecca in an alley. Mecca, according to Deadline, is a “calculated, manipulative, and dangerous,” man who “conveniently reemerges in New York at the exact moment the Tejadas need to fill the void of a new product supplier.”

Cane asks Mecca about his background, and Mecca tells him he used to run the streets with Big Guap. He also knows of Lorenzo Tejada but has never met him.

Sensing something off about him, Cane confronts Mecca, telling him he smells “like a narc.” Just then, the men are ambushed by apparent GTG members. Lil Guap tries to talk them down, but the men want payback for their fallen men from Power Book II: Ghost Season 1.
