It looks like viewers will see another familiar face in the next season of Power Book II: Ghost. The hit Starz series created by Courtney Kemp is currently filming its second season in New York, with all of your favorites expected to return to the show — well, most of them anyway. A new image from the set also teases the return of a character from the original series.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 could show more of Rashad Tate

It seems that Councilman Rashad Tate is returning for the second season of Power Book II: Ghost. As the YouTube page MarcDarkTV notes, Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq St. Patrick) reportedly shared an Instagram video in August from the set of the show and revealed he was with Larenz Tate, who plays the shady politician.

For the record, Tate has already appeared on the show — but only for a moment, when he lied to Cooper Saxe about his knowledge of Ghost’s double life to keep his name clean. Some fans believe he’ll appear on the show more as he builds out his political career, paving the way for his show Power Book V: Influence.

“I believe they’re going to try to set something up … something that’s gonna set up his spinoff,” the creator of the video says at one point. “You already know he’s going to be up to no good.” However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

What else we know about the second season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

When the show returns, it’ll pick up after the death of Professor Jabari Reynolds, who was killed by Tariq in the season 1 finale. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kemp shared that his murder would generate “a big response” back at Stansfield University.

“Where we had begun an encroachment of his drug life into his school life with the incidents that took place in episode 8 with the attempt on his life and the body in the pool, now his whole drug life is crashed into his campus life in a real way,” she continued. “And Tariq definitely feels like he’s walking around as a ticking time bomb. His relationships are going to get more complicated, and while that’s all happening he’s still got a love life.”

The cast of Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 includes Rainey, Mary J. Blige (Monet Tejada), Method Man (Davis Maclean), Shane Johnson (Cooper Saxe), Paige Hurd (Lauren Baldwin), Melanie Liburd (Carrie Milgram), Woody McClain (Cane Tejada), Gianni Paolo (Brayden Weston), Paton Ashbrook (U.S. Attorney Jenny Sullivan), and Berto Colon (Lorenzo Tejada), among others.
