‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Showrunner Teases Original Cast Cameos in Remaining Season 2 Episodes

The curtains are closing on Power Book II: Ghost Season 2, but there’s still so much ahead. The creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp teased that the last two episodes, in particular, would go all out on the fan service, hinting at the potential return of characters from the original Power series.

Kemp hinted at original character cameos in the remainder of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2

Kemp was participating in a Q&A on Instagram Live when she was asked whether there would be any original character returns in the upcoming episodes. “Please stay tuned,” she replied. “There’s a lot of fan service in the next two episodes — that I can promise you.”

Fans have had plenty of ideas about who might show up on the series, floating names such as 2-Bit, Cristobal, even the late James “Ghost” St. Patrick. The latter was famously shot in the sixth and final season of Power, but there are constant theories that he survived.

Despite the speculation, Kemp confirmed Ghost is dead. But she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of bringing him back in other ways.

“I can’t say we’ll never see that character again,” she told TVLine, “but in the way that we were telling his story, where we were with him in and out every day? That was over.”

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ brought back a lot of original characters already

Power Book II: Ghost launched in 2020 and picked up in the days following Ghost’s death. Struggling to support himself and his family, Tariq St. Patrick started selling drugs like his father. He became involved with the Tejada crime family, but with that came a number of challenges.

In addition to Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq St. Patrick), the show brought back Naturi Naughton (Tasha St. Patrick) Joseph Sikora (Tommy Egan), Larenz Tate (Rashad Tate), and Gianni Paolo (Brayden Weston), among others. New faces include Method Man as lawyer Davis MacLean and Mary J. Blige as the Tejada matriarch Monet Tejada.

Other teasers for the next episodes

With only two episodes to go until the Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 finale, things are getting intense. Kemp shared other things that fans should expect in the remaining episodes, including “more big deaths.”

“You know Zeke discovered Carrie’s body, so that’s going to energize a whole bunch of people, especially people who used to have a sexual relationship with her,” she said on Instagram Live. “What do we know about that? We know that another murder has been committed and that another murder has been committed by someone in our crew. And so what will take place? That’ll be interesting.”

“We know we’ve got a bunch of dead guaps, we’ve got a dead chef, we’ve got a whole bunch of deaths,” she continued. “So all those things have to come into play. And do we think, maybe because it’s episode 9, there are going to be some more big deaths? Let’s see! … There’s only two episodes left in this season, and you guys know how we do it.”
