Power Book II: Ghost is off to an explosive second season. While trying to balance his life as a college student with his work on the streets, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) has run into some issues. He’s had to turn to people like Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate) and Davis McLean (Clifford “Method Man” Smith) and Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) for help.

Davis and Saxe are a duo many Power Universe fans never saw coming, but will the pair get their own spinoff series?

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 will be a major shift for Saxe

While season 2 of Ghost has seen Tariq try to evade the police and the Tejadas over the death of Jabari Reynolds (Justin McManus), he isn’t the only character who will have some life-changing shifts and revelations. Saxe has found himself on the other side of the courtroom at Davis’ criminal defense practice.

However, Johnson says that a new job is not the only way we’ll see his character stretch and expand this season. “I have been trying to take Tariq down, not necessarily Tariq, but a St. Patrick,” Johnson told HollywoodLife. “I don’t care which one. I’ll take any one of them. I might even go after the little sister next, Yasmine. I’ll take her. I’m trying to take a St. Patrick down, right? And now I find myself in a position where I might actually have to be protecting him. And so it’s kind of like flipping the script and really questioning of my ethics and what I’m willing to do. I think one of the themes of this season is: what are you willing to do to get what you really want most in life? And then, are you willing to live with the consequences of those decisions because nothing comes for free, right? The aspirations that we have, Larenz and I [with] both our characters, there’s no way that there aren’t bodies along the side of the road. And can you sleep at night with yourself after knowing that you’re responsible?”

We can see already that Saxe is having some trouble in his new role.

Will Davis and Saxe get their own ‘Power’ spinoff?

As we have already seen, Davis is about his money, while Saxe is attempting to hold on to his morals and ethics. Though he understands Davis’ perspective, he’s hesitant about defending people like Tariq and Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon), this makes for a compelling dynamic between the two men.

In fact, there have even been rumors about a Davis x Saxe spinoff series. “I feel the dynamic between these two characters is fantastic and my scenes with Method Man are some of my favorites,” Johnson told Express. ” As to getting my own spin-off? I firmly believe that Saxe and Maclean could have a spinoff together.”

Aside from Power Book IV: Force and Power Book V: Influence, Starz hasn’t confirmed any spinoffs, but we could see Saxe in additional Power Universe series.

Will Saxe appear in ‘Power Book IV: Force’?

Though Raising Kanan is set some 30 years in the past, Saxe could certainly show up on Force or Influence.

Johnson appeared on Tea with Tia’s live Instagram Q&A, to talk about the Power Universe and his character.

“What would be cool is if I bounced into some of the other spin-offs. Like if I manage to bounce into Tommy’s show,” he said. “That’s actually a legitimate situation, which very well could happen. I think Saxe stirs the pot.” The actor also hinted at wanting to work with Joseph Sikora who portrays Tommy Egan on Force again.
