‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Will Mecca Kill Lorenzo?
Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) stands at the center of Power Book II: Ghost. However, this season has also focused on the Tejadas, the family that Tariq works for. For years, Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) has been the queenpin who ran her family with an iron fist. However, amid the release of her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) from prison after a decade, everything has changed.
Monet’s affair with her high school sweetheart Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) has been exposed to her husband. But will Mecca kill Lorenzo for Monet?
The ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 Finale will debut Feb. 6
After nine sensational episodes, the season finale of Ghost has arrived. The episode which is titled, “Love And War” will likely showcase the outcome of Tariq’s murder trial as well as set the Tejada family up for the future. The official description of the episode reads, “Tariq refuses to give up on his loved ones. Tariq must help Monet save her own family. Monet, finally seeing the whole board, must move quickly to protect her family from Mecca.”
As we know, Brayden (Gianni Paolo) has been tasked with testifying at Tariq’s trial and since the pair are currently beefing about a photo that Tariq stole from Brayden, things could go either way. Moreover, it appears that Effie (Alix Lapri) has gotten rid of Tariq’s ex-girlfriend Lauren (Paige Hurd) for being a snitch.
Finally, the Tejadas are divided. Monet and Cane (Woody McClain) have figured out that Dante and Mecca are the same person. Meanwhile, Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) are sticking by their father, Lorenzo’s side.
Will Mecca kill Lorenzo?
After Lorenzo kicked her out after uncovering her affair with Mecca and the fact that Zeke (Daniel Bellomy) is her secret son, Monet has asked Mecca to kill her husband. “I’m ready to go, with you but we have this one common enemy we have to get rid of first, so you’re going to kill him,” she told Mecca. However, clues from the episode description and hints from fans suggest that things aren’t going to pan out as expected.
“If Mecca believes Monet b**t plan he is not as smart as I thought,” one fan said on Twitter via Express. Another added, “Monet is going to make Mecca’s dumb ass kill Lorenzo then they are going to kill him.” A third Ghost fan said, “Monet really wants Lorenzo and Mecca to kill each other. Set ’em both up.”
Yet another fan warned not to estimate Mecca, “Cane and Monet definitely set up to kill Mecca but I know he is smart enough to be one step ahead smh.”
As smart as Mecca is, he does have a major weakness. “Mecca is just head over heels over Nene — that’s what he calls her,” Blige tells TVLine. “Like, that’s his girl. He gets sloppy when it comes to her.” She added, “He’s in love with Monet. Monet is like, ‘I remember. I like you still.’ But he’s in love with Monet.”
Is Effie working for Mecca on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’?
Still, Mecca might have one final wild card on his side. Fans are convinced that Effie is working for the drug lord. During a recent Instagram Live, a fan asked Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp if Mecca was Effie’s old connect. “I know a lot of guys have been asking about a relationship between Mecca and Effie,” Kemp responded. “Again, I will just tell you guys that I don’t want to answer that question, but I do want you guys to stay tuned.”
Since Kemp was being so secretive, we think there is definitely a Mecca/Effie connection.
