Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) and her daughter Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) have come to a crossroads on Power Book II: Ghost. The pair have always had a contentious relationship. Monet obviously favored her sons Cane (Woody McClain) and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray), continually dismissing Diana as a nuisance. What’s more, she had a tight leash on her daughter refusing to allow her to live out her own dreams.

Now, Diana has proven just how much chaos she can cause. She blew up Monet’s world in one family dinner. But will the pair end up like Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) and his father James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick)?

Tariq killed his father on ‘Power’

As Power Universe fans know, in the final season of the original show, Tariq St. Patrick killed his father, James “Ghost” St. Patrick in cold blood. Not only was Ghost willing to turn his son into the police for his political gain, but Tariq also blamed his father for destroying their family.

His twin sister Raina had been killed, Ghost had been carrying on an affair with his high school sweetheart Angela (Lela Loren), and his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) was destroyed. In the end, Tariq believed the only solution was eliminating his father.

But will Diana follow in Tariq’s footsteps?

Will Monet and Diana meet the same fate as Ghost and Tariq?

After years of being rejected and ignored, Diana has finally turned against her mother. At a nuclear family dinner, she revealed that her brother Cane has sabotaged the family’s cocaine product so he could take over a distributor. She exposed her brother Dru for failing to kill his lover as he was told to do. However, the biggest bomb she dropped had to do with her mother Monet and her cousin, Zeke (Daniel Bellomy).

She exposed the fact that Zeke is actually Monet’s son and that she’d been carrying on an affair with Zeke’s dad. She also pulled out a copy of Zeke’s birth certificate that revealed that he was born in 1998, not 2002 as he’d thought. Now fans are concerned that Monet and Diana will meet the same fate as Ghost and Tariq.

During an Instagram Live, Power Universe creator revealed if that was the direction the show is going. “I know what the outcome is, and it’s not that,” she said.

Will Monet regain her power on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’?

After her massive secret about her nephew/son Zeke was exposed by Diana, Monet’s husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) asked her to leave the family home. Since all of her resources are tied to her husband, Monet is going to have to turn to the one person she recently rejected Mecca (Daniel Sunjata).

“Mecca is just head over heels over Nene — that’s what he calls her,” Blige tells TVLine. “Like, that’s his girl. He gets sloppy when it comes to her.” She added,  “He’s in love with Monet. Monet is like, ‘I remember. I like you still.’ But he’s in love with Monet.”

Still, we doubt Mecca has forgotten about Monet rejecting him and trying to keep him away from Zeke. To regain her power, it’s likely that Monet is going to have to pay a very high price.
