The second season of Power Book II: Ghost is currently on hiatus until the new year, but fans are already anticipating an explosive second half of the season. The series follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) the son of the late drug kingpin, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). In the aftermath of his father’s death, Tariq has been trying to juggle his life as a college student with his work as a drug dealer for the Tejada crime family.

Now, he’s found himself in a place he never wanted to end up and Cane Tejada (Woody McClain) is responsible. Will Tariq kill Cane for setting him up?

Cane got Tariq sent to jail on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

Since the beginning of season 2, Tariq has been running around trying to keep his family together, while attempting to keep the details about Professor Jabari Reynolds’ (Justin McManus) death buried. Though he was supposed to be working with Cane, the eldest Tejada son’s jealously and determination to get back into his mother’s good graces worked against him.

In the end, Cane framed Tariq for the murder, using the badge of an NYPD Officer (whom Cane killed in season 1), to get Tariq arrested for double murder. Now, just as he was getting custody of his sister and getting Monet (Mary J. Blige) off his back, Tariq has found himself in prison, right where his father, James believed he would end up all along.

Though Tariq is focused on getting out of prison at the moment, Power Book II: Ghost fans are certain that he will be seeking revenge against Cane as soon as he’s able.

Will Tariq kill Cane?

Since Zeke (Daniel Bellomy) inadvertently pulled Tariq in with his family, there has been tension between the college student/drug dealer and Cane. Now that his father Lorenzo (Berto Colon) is out of prison, we can assume that Cane will have an even bigger chip on his shoulder.

Since Tariq had nothing to do with Ramirez’s murder and he would never be stupid enough to hold on to his badge if he had, it’s likely that he will make the connection about Cane quickly. Tariq will realize quickly enough that Cane framed him to throw the heat off of Zeke and to protect himself.

It’s clear that Tariq doesn’t fear Monet, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to kill Cane for revenge. It’s also likely that Cane’s own actions could be his undoing.

When will new episodes of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 2 return?

We won’t know what happens until Ghost Season 2 returns to Starz with new episodes. Episode 206,  “What’s Free?” is set to air on Jan. 9. 2022 which means the season will conclude on Feb. 6, the same day that the new Power spinoff, Power Book IV: Force debuts.

The official episode description reads, “Tariq reflects on where he is in his life and who he can trust. Brayden must decide whether to protect his family or help save Tariq’s. Monet’s faced with a new world order within her own family.”

Though Tariq will be focused on getting out of jail for the next several episodes, we’re certain he will also be formulating a plan to get revenge against Cane once he is free.
