Power Book III: Raising Kanan has just debuted on Starz to rave reviews. The third series in the Power Universe is a prequel to the events of the original show and Power Book II: Ghost. Set in the ’90s Raising Kanan is a coming-of-age story and a mother/son drama. Power fans are well acquainted with Kanan Stark, the villainous character made famous by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Known as one of the most monstrous characters to ever be seen on TV, Raising Kanan begins with 15-year-old Kanan (Mekai Curtis), a young man determined to prove to his queenpin mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller) that he has what it takes to be involved in the family business.

Raising Kanan has already been greenlit by Starz for a second season, but how can those without the cable network watch the series for free?

If you’re not into the Power Universe, or if you’re skeptical about yet another Power series, there is a way that you can watch Raising Kanan for free, at least for a little while. If you don’t have Starz, the network is offering a seven-day trial for new customers. This means if you join today, you can catch the first two episodes of Raising Kanan for free. Will ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ crossover with ‘Power Book II: Ghost’?

For fans who are already locked into Raising Kanan, there has been some major talk about if the series might crossover with Power Book II: Ghost. After all the first spinoff in the Power Universe picks up directly after the events of the original show. However, since Raising Kanan is set 30-years in the past, that might be a bit more complicated, though not impossible.

“I would love to see all different versions of that, to be honest with you,” Power creator Courtney A. Kemp told Deadline. “But I want to make sure that Raising Kanan itself has an opportunity to be its own series and not make that compete with Ghost.”

As we know, Kanan meets Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and Ghost (Omari Hardwick) around 1996 and takes them under his wing.
