Tommy and the Serbs collide in ‘Power Book IV: Force’ Episode 4

In the episode, Tommy’s new partner Liliana gets attacked by members of the Serbian mafia after stealing drugs from them. Tommy previously worked with the Serbs with Ghost, but they crossed them by secretly setting up some of their men.

When the intruders learn of Liliana’s ties to Tommy, they decide to get revenge and use Liliana to help lure him into a trap. But Tommy catches on to the setup and kills them.

He later meets up with other mafia members to give the drugs back and square things off. But Tatiana Boriskaya doesn’t think it’s a fair trade due to all the men Tommy killed. She also knows Ghost was responsible for Jason Micic’s murder, which he tried to pin on Dre.

She’s about to have her soldiers take Tommy out when Vic Flynn shows up and shoots them all. Tommy finishes off Tatiana and leaves with the drugs in hand.

Some fans think the conflict with the mafia should have been what resulted in Ghost’s death

In hindsight, some fans wish the Serbs would have been the ones to kill Ghost. They were shocked that the Serbs knew all along that he killed Jason and think it could have made for some really great drama.

“It’s just showing even more how stupid the ending was to Power by having Tariq be the one to kill Ghost,” one fan wrote on Reddit, referring to Ghost’s son Tariq St. Patrick. “It would [have] made way more sense if the Serbians killed him for doing Jason.”

They continued: “Up to now they had us thinking the Serbians never figured it out that it was Ghost and they still thought it was Dre who did it. Now after finding this out why did Tariq have to be the one to kill Ghost and why did they have to shove this whole Ghost wanting Tariq to hand himself in down our throats. It just makes no sense to me.”

Many agreed that someone else other than Tariq should have killed Ghost.

“I agree that Tariq felt shoehorned in late to kill Ghost,” read another comment. “I think it’s because of the late greenlighting of the spinoffs requiring a rushed setup.”

A third fan said: “I always expected Ghost to die but I feel the way he went out was poor and after seeing this episode it just shows it even more. It 100% was rushed for the spinoffs.”

Others argued it was fitting for Ghost to be killed by Tariq.

“While one could always debate the execution of it, I think the general idea was that if Ghost were to ever finally get killed, it would HAVE to be someone close to him because he was ALWAYS too good NOT to get caught slipping by another criminal,” one fan said.

What the show creator said about the decision to kill off Ghost

That Tariq killed Ghost has been met with much backlash from fans, even years later. However, show creator Courtney Kemp stands by her decision.

“Ghost made a lot of mistakes and he made a ton of mistakes right as he was about to reach his goal. I know a lot of people had problems with it but for me, it was the only way to end it,” she once said on Instagram Live, via Express.co.uk.
