The moment Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) arrived in Chicago on Power Book IV: Force, he found himself at odds with the prominent Flynn family. Helmed by Walter Flynn (Tommy Flannagan), the Irish Mob family is a stronghold in the city. Ruthless and cold, Walter is intent on leaving his legacy in the hands of his son, Victor (Shane Harper). However, in doing so, he’s alienated his daughter Claudia (Lili Simmons), who wants to prove herself as well.

Animosity, ambition, and Walter’s ailing health have allowed Tommy to begin infiltrating the Flynns’ organization and now it appears to be on the brink of collapse.

Inside the conflict between the Flynn family and CBI

Chicago, unlike New York, is still very much a city that is divided by race. The Flynn family is Irish and they rule the Northside. They are at odds with Chicago Brothers Incorporated (CBI )who are Black and run the Southside of the city. “I think it’s important that they show that because Chicago is known to be a very divisional type city,” Issac Keys who portrays Diamond told Digital Spy. “Like Diamond comes from the south side, the Irish on the other side, and we don’t really interact. I think it’s important that we show that and why. And I think that it continues because there’s a lot of old history between Diamond and Walter Flynn. Walter Flynn has some ideas in his head, a storyline in his head – the things that he feels Diamond and CBI represent, and some things they’ve done. Diamond’s not really concerned about Walter in a sense, but all the stuff starts to come to the table as the season comes along, as it goes along. It starts to come out, and you’re getting all these different things. It’s like being in a relationship with somebody. It’s like ‘Oh, you felt this way about me all this time, and I didn’t know it?’ And it’s like, you’re starting to see that as it goes.”

However, while Jenard (Kris D. Lofton) and Diamond have been beefing with Walter Flynn, Tommy has started infiltrating the Flynn family’s dynamic.

Tommy is close to destroying the Flynn family’s organization in ‘Power Book IV: Force’

With Vic and Claudia frustrated with the way that their father has been running the organization, they are looking to branch out. Claudia is ready to sell her elite drug Dahlia on the side, and Vic is prepared to sell cocaine instead of just sticking with pills amid Tommy’s influence.

In the promo for episode 105 “It’s Never Just One Thing,” it appears that the Flynns are crumbling for the inside out. In the clip, Walter can be seen slapping Vic. Later, Claudia can be seen meeting with Tommy.

The episode description reads, “Tommy is offered a solution from an unlikely source that may be the answer to his troubles. Intrigued, Tommy is informed he must first address a problem threatening the new venture before it begins.”

Tommy and Vic may come to blows over Gloria in ‘Power Book IV: Force’

In addition to dismantling the Flynn family organization by getting Vic and Claudia to turn against their father, it appears that Tommy and Vic may come to blows over Gloria (Gabrielle Ryan). As we know, Vic and Gloria have an intense on-again, off-again relationship that has lasted for years. However, since Gloria is a Black woman and Vic is expected to marry an Irish woman, their romance is forbidden.

It didn’t help that Tommy stormed into town and immediately struck up a sexual relationship with Gloria, it’s a romance that Vic knows about.

“It’s a tricky one because Vic and Gloria are definitely off when Gloria meets Tommy,” Ryan told Digital Spy. “It’s a very on-off relationship, which is why she’s, you know, she’s even open and available to being intimate with Tommy. But Tommy is also Tommy, and, you know, the instant attraction is really obvious, they have a connection straight away. And I think that Gloria’s intrigued by Tommy and it’s something different, you know, it’s not the baggage that she has with Vic. They have a long, long, long, long-term relationship, Vic and Gloria. And Tommy is new and exciting, and this new guy in town, who wouldn’t be interested in that?”

Though Tommy and Vic are trying to work together to expand their business, we think there will be some major issues if Gloria and Tommy’s romance continues.
