‘Power Book IV: Force’: Walter Flynn Is ‘Fascinated’ by Tommy

Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) has landed in Chicago on Power Book IV: Force, and he’s quickly learning that Chicago is nothing like New York. For one, Chicago is a city that is still very much divided among racial lines. Though Tommy has only been in the city for a short time, he’s already garnered the attention of Walter Flynn (Tommy Flannagan) the head of the Irish mob.

Though Walter has two children Vic (Shane Harper) and Claudia (Lili Simmons), he’s very much intrigued by Tommy and his skillset.

Who is Walter Flynn on ‘Power Book IV: Force’?

The very day Tommy rolls into Chicago, he insults the Flynn family. Walter Flynn is a titan in the city. “Walter Flynn is the head of the Irish crime family in Chicago,” the character description reads. “Despite living a life of immense prosperity in his castle on the lake, he longs for the way things used to be. Walter believes that without community and family, there is no tradition, and his deeply held code of honor bleeds into every aspect of his life. As he ushered his family into the twenty-first century, Walter quickly saw the criminal organization he built facing threats he never accounted for.”

Though Walter sees Tommy as a threat he’s also very much fascinated by the beloved Power Universe character.

Though Walter is certainly annoyed with Tommy’s presence in Chicago, he’s also intrigued by the hot-headed gangster from Queens. Tommy is fearless and diabolical, which are also traits that Walter has himself.  “Walter is kind of ‘fascinated’ by the ‘fearless and full of contempt’ Tommy Egan,” Flannagan told Hollywood Life. “I think he’s interested and a wee bit amused by him… Maybe he’s got his back up a little bit and [he’s] a reminder of himself in some ways. Walter sees Tommy Egan and thinks, ‘Ah, I. know that guy.'”

There’s a reason why Walter has allowed Tommy to move around Chicago unscathed. However, if Tommy continues on with his alliance with Diamond (Issac Keys) and Chicago Brothers Incorporated (CBI), we can see things getting bloody and very complicated quite quickly.

Additionally, there are also concerns about the stability of Walter’s family and his health.

Will Walter Flynn die in ‘Power Book IV: Force’ Season 1?

There is certainly some friction brewing in the Flynn family. While Vic is poised to take over the family business, he’s unable to let go of the woman he loves, Gloria (Gabrielle Ryan). Moreover, while Vic wants to expand the Flynn enterprise, Walter is stuck in his ways. In the same vein, Claudia, Walter’s daughter wants to prove that she’s more than just a pretty face and can contribute to the family business in a very real way.

Fans also know that Walter seems to have some illness that he’s hiding from his children. With so much going on, it’s possible that Walter won’t see the end of Power Book IV: Force alive.
