Joseph Sikora had worked in Hollywood for years before snagging his role on Power. However, his role as the volatile and ill-tempered Tommy Egan catapulted him onto Hollywood’s A-list. The Chicago-born actor portrayed the best friend and business partner of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). While Ghost was plotting to leave the drug game behind, it was all Tommy knew, and he thrived on the violence and chaos of it.

Over the course of six seasons, we watched the in-depth friendship between Ghost and Tommy slowly fracture. Moreover, despite Tommy’s desire to have a traditional family like Ghost and Tasha (Naturi Naughton), things didn’t actually pan out how he’d hoped.

Since becoming Tommy, Sikora’s opportunities in the industry have soared and his net worth has exploded.

Joseph Sikora was not originally cast as Tommy on ‘Power’

As beloved as Sikora is for portraying Tommy on Power, the 44-year-old wasn’t initially given the role. When Starz first called for auditions for Power in 2013, Sikora couldn’t come in. He was busy working on another project. “I believe that they already had their final choice, but then Omari Hardwick signed onto the project, and they had to go through the audition process again,” Sikora told Channel 24 via Express. “Luckily, this time, I was available.”

Before Hardwick landed the role as Ghost actor Andy Bean was cast in the role of Tommy. Power fans will recognize Bean as FBI Agent Greg Knox. In the first couple of seasons of Power, Greg was Angela’s (Lela Loren) love interest. He quickly became obsessed with her relationship with Ghost, and he was killed in season three by corrupt FBI Assistant US attorney Mike Sandoval (Daniel Fumero).

Since both Sikora and Bean were so good in their respective roles, it’s hard to imagine them doing anything else.

Is Tommy coming back to ‘Power’?

Power officially ended after six seasons on Starz. But the show, which was the second-highest-rated cable series after Game of Thrones has continued through its various spinoffs. There is Power Book II: Ghost and the forthcoming Power Book III: Raising KananPower Book IV: Force, and Power Book V: Influence. Sikora has already reprised his role on Power Book II: Ghost which centers on Ghost’s college aged-son Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) who also happens to be Tommy’s godson.

However, Power fans will see a lot more of Sikora soon. He will be headlining the Chicago-set Power Book IV: Force which will follow Tommy’s life following Ghost’s death after he decided to leave New York and set up shop elsewhere. “It definitely is in terms of its violence and sexuality ancient school Power,” Power creator Courtney A. Kemp told Deadline.

“I think that it’s going to take all facets of Tommy that we’ve built up to until now to not only survive but to potentially thrive — and to potentially leave,” Sikora told Entertainment Weekly. “You don’t know if it’s going to be one city and then another city and if he’s going to keep bopping or what connections need to be made.”

The spinoff is currently filming and slated for release in early 2022.
