As the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles is one of the busiest senior working members of the royal family. He makes numerous public appearances with different charities and organizations, and the discussions are almost always about official business. But he is also a proud grandfather of four and sometimes, he can’t help but gush about his grandbabies.

Prince George recently celebrated his 7th birthday

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s oldest child, Prince George, is third in line to the throne behind his dad and grandpa. He recently turned seven years old, and his parents celebrated with some sweet pics on Instagram.

Kate took two pics of Prince George that were posted to the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles also shared the photos. In the caption, they wrote,” Wishing Prince George a very happy seventh birthday today!”

Queen Elizabeth also wished her great-grandson a happy birthday via the @royalfamily Instagram account. This account represents the monarch, Prince Philip, and other royals who don’t have personal pages.

In addition to Prince George, Prince Charles is also the grandfather to Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2. His youngest grandchild is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s one-year-old son, Archie Harrison.

How likely is it that Prince George will become king?

As Insider points out, the line of succession to the British throne is regulated through Parliamentary statute. At 71, Prince Charles is next in line. He is followed by Prince William, 38, and Prince George.

Queen Elizabeth is currently 94 years old, and she has been sitting on the throne since 1952. When she passes, Charles will become king. Of course, his reign will be significantly shorter than his mother’s. He also has the option of abdicating and handing the throne to the Duke of Cambridge.

When Prince William ascends to the throne, Prince George will be next in line. Currently, Princess Charlotte is next. However, if Prince George has children, they would be ahead of his sister in the line of succession.

How and when Prince George takes the thrones relies on numerous factors. It all depends on his dad and grandpa’s longevity, and whether or not they want to sit on the throne.

Prince Charles revealed the one big difference between his oldest grandchildren

According to Express, the Prince of Wales threw a tea party for World War II pilots and air crew at Clarence House back in 2015. The event took place not long after Charlotte’s birth, and Prince Charles talked about his grandkids with guests.

One of the party guests, Geoff Bradley, recalled his conversation with Prince Charles.

“We were talking about grandchildren, he was saying Princess Charlotte does sleep through the night and it was much easier on mum than Prince George,” said Bradley.
