Prince Charles is one busy man. He’s a devoted husband to Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall. He’s a father to Prince Harry and Prince William, thanks to his late wife, Princess Diana. He also has quite a few grandchildren. There’s Prince William and Kate Middleton’s George, Charlotte, and Louis as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s newest royal addition, Archie.

Most importantly, he’s the first born son to Her Majesty, making him next in line to the throne. Without a doubt he’s probably one of the busiest working royals, juggling a fulfilling family life alongside a never ending list of royal engagements.

Prince Charles doesn’t get to spend enough time with his family

At 70 years old, the Prince of Wales still finds himself drowning in work. Not surprising considering his title of future king. But while many citizens can understand his busy schedule, those closest to him wish he would carve out more personal time.

Between the royal engagements, public appearances, lengthy trips, and Patronages, Prince Charles rarely has time to spend with his growing family.

“I would like him to have more time with the children. Having more time with him at home would be lovely, and being able to, you know, play around with the grandchildren. When he’s there, he’s brilliant, but we need him there as much as possible.” – Prince William (Prince, Son & Heir: Charles at 70)

The sad part is the Prince of Wales is exceptional with children! According to his wife, Charles has bonded very well with her four grandbabies from a different marriage. He reads to them (in the characters voices) and even gets down on the floor to crawl around with them for hours at a time! That’s pretty impressive for a 70-year-old man!

“He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know, making funny noises and laughing, and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him. We wish he was our grandpa!” – Camilla Parker Bowles (Prince, Son & Heir: Charles at 70)

Prince Charles’ sleeping habits aren’t very great

Prince Harry echoes his older brother’s sentiment and believes his father definitely “needs to slow down.” When reminiscing about their childhood, Prince Harry remembers there being bags upon bags of work in his office. He was constantly toiling away at documents, so much so, they could barely get to his work desk to bid him goodnight!

What’s crazy is that he hasn’t seemed to change very much in his later years.

“This is a man who has dinner ridiculously late at night, and then goes to his desk later that night and will fall asleep on his notes to the point where he’ll wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face. The man never stops.” – Prince Harry (Prince, Son & Heir: Charles at 70)

While his work ethic is admirable, one would imagine he would at least catch a beauty rest at the end of the day! Even the Queen has a pretty rigid schedule that she sticks too to stay happy and healthy.

What are Her Majesty’s sleeping habits like?

Queen Elizabeth II also has a daily night regimen. As a night owl, she has to do her best to ensure she retires at a good time. She kicks off her early evening routine with a soothing cocktail, usually a dry martini or Gin and Dubonnet.

She makes sure to handle any daily work such as parliamentary proceedings,  official receptions, and red boxes. Throw in some relaxing television, a delicious dinner, and a glass of champagne, and you have the majority of her post afternoon tea routine.

While Her Majesty typically goes to bed late and wakes up early, she has a strict schedule that allows her to manage her time better. Perhaps Prince Charles will learn to follow suit.
