Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have been very diligent about raising their children. Though Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will never be regular children, the duke and duchess have done their best to make sure their kids have structure and normalcy.

Prince William knew at a very young age that he was destined to be the Crowed King. As a result, he resented the role and the invasiveness of the public for years. Therefore, once Kate had Prince George, the pair decided to approach the subject of royal status differently.

The couple has worked to shield their kids from the spotlight for as long as possible. However, things have changed drastically in the royal family in the past year. As a result, Prince George has realized he’s different than his siblings.

Megxit has pushed Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids into the spotlight

Despite the photos following their births, their christenings, and their birthday photos taken by Kate, the Cambridges have been adamant about keeping their children out of the spotlight. However, when Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex resigned from their roles as senior working royals, everything changed.

Now, the Cambridges have become the most visible faces in the royal family and they are going to have to craft and cultivate the royal image for years to come. Sarah Gristwood, author of Elizabeth: The Queen and the Crown, told People,

What has been reinforced throughout all of this is just how important the Cambridges are. There is a repositioning going on within the royal family and we are clearly seeing this. I think this is one of the most important stages in Kate’s life as a royal. As a young mother, Kate was allowed to raise her children away from the media spotlight but now we are seeing a shift.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton waited to tell Prince George he would be king

In the past, Prince William and Kate didn’t tell Prince George anything about his future role. However, as he’s gotten a bit older, that’s changed. As Prince Charles has streamlined the royal family to focus on Queen Elizabeth II, himself, Prince William, and Prince George, the Cambridges decided to take action.

According to a royal insider, the duke and duchess spoke to Prince George and Princess Charlotte about their royal status using the “storybook tactic.” The insider told The Sun,

William and Kate have already talked to George and Charlotte about their future roles, but in a child-like way so that they understand without feeling overwhelmed. George knows there’s something special about him and that one day he’ll be the future King of England.

Prince George knows he’s different from his siblings

In addition to his parents’ revelations, Prince George has come to realize that he’s also different from his siblings. While the Cambridges treat their kids the same, Prince George has a special relationship with Queen Elizabeth.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! Magazine via Daily Mail,

The true enormity of what his life will one day be isn’t something he’s fully aware of yet. I think George understands like William did from a very early age, that he’s different from his younger brother and sister and that he’ll have a different future. After all, he gets taken away to do photoshoots with Her Majesty the Queen, so he must notice he’s been singled out.
