There were some very memorable moments during the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee festivities that royal watchers still talk about today. And many would agree that Prince William and the Princess of Wales’ (formerly known as Kate Middletonthree children stole the show.

It was the first time fans got to see Prince Louis’ big personality and Princess Charlotte trying to keep him and Prince George in line. But there was one moment on the balcony that lots of people missed when the youngsters were actually “startled” by something amid the celebrations.

Here’s more on that, plus the times Charlotte had to remind George of royal protocol.

What Princess Charlotte was seen instructing her older brother to do

William and Kate’s daughter follows royal protocol and makes sure her big brother does as well. This was evident at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

On Sept. 19, 2022, around 2,000 mourners gathered at Westminster Abbey to say goodbye to the queen, thousands more lined the streets, and millions watched from around the world. Prior to the service, many wondered if and which of Waleses’ kids would attend.

According to The Mirror, “It’s understood the royal couple thought long and hard while having discussions with the children.” William and Kate eventually decided that Prince Louis was too young to attend the funeral, but both George and Charlotte would be there. During the service, cameras panned to Charlotte who was speaking to her older sibling and looked to be instructing him on what to do.

In a clip shared online, she appears to tell the prince, “You need to bow,” when their great-grandmother’s coffin comes past them. When that occurs, George shoots a glance toward his sister, and after he sees her curtsy, he bows his head.

Another time Charlotte kept George in check, she was caught off guard

The other time fans recall Princess Charlotte reminding Prince George of royal protocol was when the family made a final appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the Platinum Pageant in June 2022.

Cameras filming the event rolled as the national anthem (which was then sung as “God Save the Queen”) played and George made the mistake of slightly moving his arms in front of him. When Charlotte noticed this, she gave him a nudge and whispered, “Arms down, George.” Charlotte even set an example for her mother as Kate then gently pulled Prince Louis back when he leaned forward so he stood up straight as well during the anthem.

After maintaining her perfect posture throughout the song, Charlotte heard something she wasn’t expecting when the anthem concluded.

A video uploaded to YouTube that is making the rounds again shows the young princess’s reaction at the end of the song when she hears the shot of a cannon. She’s startled by the noise and turns to her big brother and admits, “That made me jump.” George gave her a smile in agreement.

Fans have enjoyed seeing the moment between the future king and his little sister as the nine-second clip has been viewed more than 9,000 times and counting.
