Prince Harry Is Accused of Being a ‘Traitor’ to His Family by Critic

Prince Harry used to be one of the most popular royals, but he is increasingly attracting criticism from onlookers ever since he stepped down as a senior royal in 2020. He recently announced he is writing a tell-all memoir, and a critic is accusing him of being a “traitor” to his family.

In 2021, Harry has given a handful of interviews to share grievances against the royal family.

He and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, sat down with Oprah Winfrey in March for an explosive talk, where they claimed their family was mistreated by other royals. Then, he appeared on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, podcast for more commentary about his royal upbringing and criticized his father’s parenting skill. Finally, Harry also worked with Oprah on the series The Me You Can’t See, in which he discussed how being a royal affected his mental health.

Recently, Harry announced he will publish a memoir to talk more about his childhood and royal life. A statement about the book reads, “His intimate and heartfelt memoir will cover his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan and the joy he has found in being a husband and father.”

A critic accuses Prince Harry of being a ‘traitor’ to his family

Given what Harry has said in interviews, many onlookers believe the prince will also have negative things to say about his family members in his memoir. Royal author Angela Levin criticized Harry for going down this path.

“I don’t think he cares about Britain anymore,” Levin said, according to Express. “I think he wants to destroy the monarchy. I think he is trying to be a sort of—show his genetic pain has gone all the way through him and he is riddled with hate.”

Levin added, “I think if he goes on like this you can think of him in some ways as a traitor—he is a traitor to his family by saying things that he shouldn’t. He wants his own privacy but he doesn’t care about anybody else. He can say what he thinks about them.”

Additionally, Levin wondered why Harry “doesn’t want to move on,” saying, “He loves his wife, he loves being in America, he has got two children one of each, terrific, lots of money pouring in because as they say he is box office and yet he is hanging on to this Royal Family.”

Has Prince Harry talked to the royal family about his book?

According to Newsweek, Harry talked to his family about the book after news of it came out in the media on July 19. It’s not clear what was said in the private conversation, but it should be noted that Harry did not actually need Queen Elizabeth’s permission to publish his memoir.

Nonetheless, the U.K. press alleged that his father, Prince Charles, “was surprised to learn of the book.”

Harry’s memoir is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2022.
