Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex is a wealthy guy. He inherited millions from Princess Diana and is a member of one of the wealthiest families in the world. When his great-grandmother died, many royal fans believed she left Harry, now 36, a tidy sum. However, a new report says the Duke of Sussex didn’t get much from the Queen Mother.

Prince Harry didn’t have the closest relationship with the Queen Mother

As sixth in the royal family’s line of succession, some royals overlooked Harry and gave Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, the heir to the throne, the majority of their attention.

“He was always less than his brother,” royal biographer Angela Lewin said in the Channel 5 Documentary Prince Harry: The Troubled Prince, according to the Mirror

Growing up Harry wasn’t BFFs with his great-grandmother. The Queen Mother made it a point to bond with William instead of him. She’d schedule one-on-one time with William and exclude Harry.

“The late Queen Mother would always invite Prince William over for tea and talk to him about his future and not invite Prince Harry,” Lewin said.

When it came to events or family gatherings, the Queen Mother always saved a spot near her for William.

“The Queen Mother always made sure Prince William was seated in a prominent seat next to her and Harry never was,” royal author Richard Kay added.

Prince Charles is another royal who had a close relationship with the Queen Mother. Some reports even said that Charles, who is first in the line of succession, was her favorite grandchild.

Prince Harry didn’t get any money from the Queen Mother upon her death

When the Queen Mother died in 2002 at the age of 101 it had been reported she left a sizable amount of money to her grandchildren. Supposedly, she began putting funds in a private trust for her future grandchildren in 1944.

By the time of her death, she’d put aside nearly $18 million. Reports at the time said the Queen Mother left more money to Harry than William because the latter would one day have access to the Duchy of Cornwall estate. With it, the Duke of Cambridge would make millions annually.

According to a Forbes report published in February 2021, Harry didn’t get any inheritance from his great-grandmother upon her death. A representative confirmed to the publication the Duke of Sussex wasn’t the beneficiary of any of the Queen Mother’s nearly $100 million fortune. So instead of receiving what some royal fans thought to be millions of dollars, Harry actually got nothing.

For them, that means going the Hollywood route. They’ve already made money through public appearances. They’re also inking massive contracts with giants in the entertainment space. In September 2020 they announced a deal with Netflix and later, Spotify. The former could reportedly earn the couple $100 million while the latter is estimated to get them $75 million in the first three years. It seems Meghan and Harry’s net worth will only continue to grow as they further themselves from the royal family and take on more projects.
