It’s always fascinating exploring what royal family members eat. Yes, they’re just regular people like the rest of us. But some fans expect Prince William, Queen Elizabeth, and all the rest to dine on nothing but pheasant under glass. The truth is, they eat plenty of regular foods just like us common folk.

But royal family members also have some quirky eating habits. For example, Prince Harry apparently loves bananas but isn’t a fan of pizza. He’s also known to indulge in fast food as an occasional treat.

Prince Harry’s diet changed ever since he married Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

While at one time he ate a little more recklessly, now Harry is more inclined to select kale, quinoa, and other fresh fruit and veggies. The pair is vocal about their love for cooking together and spend a lot of time coming up with new favorite dishes together, Mashed reported.

That doesn’t mean Harry and Meghan eat healthy foods all the time. But overall, they pay close attention to their diets and exercise habits, which include yoga.

Former royal chef Darren McGrady worked for the British royal family for years. During that time, he learned about the quirky eating habits of his employers, including Prince Harry’s extreme affection for bananas. It was the same story for Prince William.

“[William and Harry] loved banana flan, anything with banana really, banana ice cream,” McGrady told HELLO! in 2016.

This works out perfectly because the Duchess of Sussex has a well-known banana bread recipe that’s one of her most popular ever. It’s safe to assume their family enjoys this baked treat all the time with so much banana love in the household.

Prince Harry is not a fan of pizza

Liking bananas is normal enough, even if they are a potentially polarizing fruit. But Harry does have a slightly odd food aversion — apparently, he doesn’t care much for pizza.

During a trip to the United States in 2017, Harry turned down one student’s offer of deep dish pizza in Chicago, according to Mashed. The Duke of Sussex explained that he’s not a big fan of the classic American dish and usually skips it.

“I don’t even eat pizza anymore,” he told the fans. “But I had pizza last night. We had deep dish and thin crust.”

There’s a chance that Prince Harry is more open to trying pizza now that he’s living in the United States full time. But it still doesn’t sound like he loves it as much as bananas.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex select healthy meals the majority of the time. But the pair isn’t above hitting up the drive-thru occasionally, usually going to In-N-Out Burger and checking out their secret menu while there.

Prince Harry may remember this particular ritual from childhood. Princess Diana often took Harry and William to McDonald’s as a special treat, which explains why he’s open to the idea of a sporadic fast food meal even in adulthood.
