Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are expecting their second child, a daughter. The baby will be the Sussexes’ last child, and she will join their son, Archie Harrison, who just turned two. The couple announced their pregnancy on Valentine’s Day and revealed that they were expecting a little girl shortly thereafter.

The newborn baby Sussex will be a rainbow baby for the couple who experienced pregnancy loss in the summer of 2020. Since the Sussexes are now living in California, outside of the British royal family traditions, we don’t expect to see a formal birth announcement or photos. However, the couple has opened up about this exciting time in their lives.

In fact, royal fans are convinced that the couple is naming their baby girl Poppy.

When will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter be born?

During their CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey on March 7, the Sussexes announced that they were expecting a baby girl and that she would be born this summer. “To have any one or any two, but to have a boy and then a girl—what more could you ask for?” Harry told Oprah.

Gender can typically be accurately determined between 18 to 21 weeks of pregnancy so at that point Meghan was more than halfway done with her pregnancy.

Moreover, following Prince Philip’s death on April 9, 2021, Prince Harry flew to the U.K. to attend the funeral. However, Meghan did not receive clearance from her doctor to fly.

Pregnant women are typically not advised to fly after 36 weeks. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic adds another layer of precaution.

Meghan Markle chose not to have a baby shower for her daughter

Meghan is reportedly already on maternity leave. However, unlike the New York City baby shower she had in 2019 when she was pregnant with Archie, the duchess has decided not to have a baby shower for her baby girl.

“Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now. There is too much strife in the world,” US Weekly reported. “She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”

Still, we’re sure the Sussexes already have a new nursey and lots of adorable clothes ready for their new bundle of joy.

Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle naming their daughter Poppy?

Though Meghan is currently on maternity leave, she shared a pre-recorded message during Global Citizen’s Vax Live concert on May 8, which she and the prince co-chaired. She referenced her unborn daughter during her speech.

“My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter,” she said. “It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world. When we think of her, we think of all the other families around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”

Now, fans are convinced that the Sussexes will be naming their baby girl, Poppy. During her speech at Vax Live, Meghan wore a $1,690 red poppy Carolina Herrera dress which fans believe is an Easter egg for a baby name.

It should be noted that poppies are a symbol of support for the Armed Forces community. Prince Harry is a retired Captain in the British Army,
