In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would step down as senior royals. The couple has been trying to establish careers for themselves in the United States.

However, they have continued to reach out to the royal family for assistance here and there. According to a royal expert, some of their “diva demands” are being ignored by other royals.

Prince Harry is trying to get police protection for his family’s visits to the U.K.

One big request the Sussexes—more specifically, Harry—has been making relates to security. He recently filed to seek judicial review of a Home Office’s decision after it denied him the right to fund police protection for his family when visiting the United Kingdom. The Sussexes currently pay for private security on their own, which Harry claims is not sufficient.

In a statement released by a spokesperson, Harry alleged he “inherited a security risk at birth, for life” being born a royal. For example, when returning to the U.K. in July 2021, Harry’s security was reportedly “compromised” while leaving a charity event. Additionally, his family also faced “well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed while in the UK,” the statement said. “In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”

The statement added, “The UK will always be Prince Harry’s home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in. With the lack of police protection, comes too great a personal risk. Prince Harry hopes that his petition—after close to two years of pleas for security in the UK—will resolve this situation.”

A royal expert says the royal family is ignoring the Sussexes’ ‘diva demands’

The royal family has not responded to Harry and Meghan’s legal action. According to royal commentator Neil Sean, the Sussexes are being ignored thanks to their “diva demands.”

“As we now know, the British monarchy is currently in its own turmoil,” Sean said in a YouTube video, “and so, consequently, Harry and Meghan’s diva demands are way down the pecking order.”

The royal family is currently affected by several events, including Prince Andrew’s sexual assault trial.

Sean also noted that the Sussexes are “being met with a stonewall silence from senior members of the British monarchy.” These senior royals were reportedly also caught off-guard by Harry and Meghan’s announcement that they would like to visit the U.K. with their children.

The Sussexes’ statement has not been met with positivity, however. Some critics are blasting the couple.

“It seems appropriate that this is the first time we have heard from Prince Harry and #Meghan in 2022 and they’re already moaning about something,” royal journalist Richard Eden tweeted.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan called Harry a “shameless, deluded, woefully entitled hypocrite” in an article for The Sun.
