Prince Harry and Meghan Markle managed to get into the United States just as the borders were closing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two have settled into Los Angeles, though they reportedly have not yet found their forever home. And one royal expert says the two are “looking online” at houses, primarily in Malibu, and are staying at a friend’s home during their search.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently relocated to L.A.

Harry and Meghan made the shocking decision earlier this year to take a step back from their roles as senior royals. The two still wanted to do work for the queen, but in a smaller capacity and while simultaneously working to achieve financial independence. However, the two realized that they could not work for the queen without getting paid, so they removed themselves from the family altogether.

Harry and Meghan left for Canada in January, where they spent several weeks hiking and enjoying the outdoors — and some much-needed privacy. But in March, the two relocated once again and have now settled down closer to Meghan’s mother in Los Angeles, California.

The two are reportedly staying at a friend’s home

Meghan and Harry haven’t been spotted too much since their move, though they were seen giving out free meals to those in need in mid-April. Otherwise, they’ve flown under the radar. But royal expert Rob Shuter told Rosanna Scott on Good Day New York that his sources say Harry and Meghan are staying at a home that was lent to them by a friend’s wealthy father.

“They’re in a gated community, fancy community… [their house] might even be given to them at the moment. A friend of theirs, their father… Lent them the house in L.A.,” Shuter revealed on Good Day. He did not reveal the friend’s name but said only that their father had a house that was not being used and allowed Meghan, Harry, and Archie to move in.

Harry and Meghan are ‘looking online’ in Malibu

It appears that Harry and Meghan have not yet found their dream home. There have been rumors that they want to find a place in Malibu, and Shuter confirmed that that’s where they’re looking — but they’ve been doing almost their entire search on the Internet.

“They’re now looking for a permanent home; obviously in the lockdown this is very hard to find,” Shuter said. “But they’ve been Looking online like the rest of us, and they’ve seen some really glorious homes in Malibu. It looks like they’re going to be living there.” There are many popular home sites, such as Zillow and Realtor.com, which are allowing potential buyers to schedule virtual tours. But Harry and Meghan most likely won’t purchase a new home until the pandemic slows and they can view the homes in person.

There have been rumors about the two starting a production company

Meghan and Harry are also looking for new jobs while out in California; Meghan has already found success with Disney in her narration of their documentary “Elephant.” But without the royal family, these two will need to find a new way of life. And Shuter has heard the two might be looking to start a production company. He said that Harry would remain behind the scenes while Meghan would “star” in some of the works, though there wasn’t much detail about what kind of films or shows the two might produce.
