Though it’s come at a great financial cost to them, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially carved out a path for themselves to have a much more peaceful life, outside of the fishbowl existence of the British royal family.

Though the pair had done everything in their power to serve the U.K. and its Commonwealths as well as Queen Elizabeth II with grace and dignity, it was not good enough for the British press or public. Since the duo wed in May 2018 — the Duchess of Sussex has been bombarded with hurtful, racist, and, sexist slander. It has become so challenging that the pair have decided to step away from royal life.

Now that the Sussexes are no longer working members of the royal family, they have to find a way to make their own money, and it looks like streaming giant, Netflix, is already trying to schedule a meeting with them.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will no longer receive any money from Queen Elizabeth II

When they initially announced their intent to step back as senior members of the British royal family, Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex stated they wanted to work toward being financially independent as part-time working royals.

In their final agreement with Queen Elizabeth, the couple had to compromise. “The couple will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but they will no longer formally represent the Queen or receive money from the Sovereign Grant, the annual funding given to the Queen by the government to cover the costs of the royal family’s official expenses,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The Sussexes new roles will officially go into effect in the Spring of 2020.

This is how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make money

For now, it appears that the Sussexes will be funded in some part by the duke’s father, Prince Charles, through private money from the Duchy of Cornwall. However, since the pair are dazzling A-listers with great earning potential, making millions shouldn’t be an issue for them. Also, it’s not like they are starting with nothing. The Sussexes have a combined net worth of roughly $30 million.

Book deals and speaking engagements are two major things that royal fans are buzzing about. We could easily compare them to any former presidents,” Royal commentator and author Kristen Meinzer explained to Business Insider. “My mind keeps going to Barack and Michelle Obama and how [they] make money. The reason I compare the two is that they’re already friends with each other and I would put them on the same level in terms of fame.”

Additionally, their Instagram account @SussexRoyal which boasts nearly 11 million followers could also be leveraged for sponsorship.

Netflix is interested in working with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Though we don’t expect the duchess to return to her acting roots since she and the prince are focused on their progressive charity entity — Netflix would certainly be down for a meeting to pick their brains. “Who wouldn’t be interested? Yes, sure,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said at the Producers Guild Awards.

If Netflix doesn’t ‘t snap the Sussexes up, ABC is also more than willing to throw their hat into the ring. “We have an office waiting for them… should they be looking to produce television,” ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said at the yearly Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The Sussexes’ new peaceful life is already shaping up to be a success.
