Since leaving the U.K. for Canada and stepping away from their lives as senior working members of the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have rarely been seen. Though the paparazzi have snapped several candid pictures of the couple on Vancouver Island, it appears that the duo has mostly been laying low as they adjust to their new normal.

Though the Sussexes have remained fairly active on the Instagram page, Sussex Royal — no new schedules, events or initiatives have been posted or planned. In fact, it appears that the duo has a ton of downtime as they plan the next phase of their lives.

For now, the pair are camping out in a $14 million mansion on Vancouver Island. However, we do know that they hope to head to Los Angeles in the summer as the duchess seeks an agent and manager. For now, the Sussexes’ lives seem peaceful and quiet, but Prince Harry is really missing the U.K.

Inside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new life in Canada

At present, the Sussexes and their adorable son Archie are staying at a $14.1 million waterfront mansion owned by a mystery millionaire. The estate sits on four acres and has access to two beaches. According to Daily Mail, the home is “fully furnished, with an 11,416 square foot main house with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms and a 2,349 square foot guest cottage with three beds and two baths.”

In addition to the couple’s armed security, the home has temporary fencing, screens, and cameras to ensure the couple’s privacy. Getting out of the royal stronghold has really made Markle happy. Her mother, Doria Ragland, and her friends have already visited her.

“Meghan is so happy,” an insider explained to US Weekly, “She doesn’t come from millions. She’s worked hard to get to where she is today. Meghan loves the idea of being the breadwinner. She has no plans to do another show like Suits, but Harry’s been encouraging her to do more voice-over work, writing, producing and directing in her free time.” As for Prince Harry, “He’s really excited about the next chapter in their lives.”

Prince Harry was really sad to leave royal life

Though he did what was best for his wife and child, the prince was sad to leave behind the life he always knew. In fact, the Sussexes resignation came after the duke felt like he had no other options.

“We both do everything we can to fly the flag and carry out our roles for this country with pride,” he revealed in a speech shortly after Megixt.“Once Meghan and I were married, we were excited, we were hopeful, and we were here to serve. For those reasons, it brings me great sadness that it has come to this.”

Prince Harry is really missing his friends

Though the prince has trimmed down his friend group considerably since becoming a married father — with many of his previous buddies not even having his cell number, he does miss the crew he remained close with.

“Harry misses his friends of course—anyone would,” an insider told The Sun. “But he has been in WhatsApp Group with his mates for years and he uses that more than ever now to keep in touch and send pictures. The group are always sharing funny video clips they find as well.”

Despite missing his friends, this new chapter for his family is important to the duke and he doesn’t plan on losing touch with his friend group.  “Harry doesn’t think being on the other side of the world means that he will lose touch with the people he has been mates with all his life,” the insider explained.
