Prince Harry is experiencing life in a way that he never has before. After living his entire life within the familiar confines of the British royal family, Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ youngest son has decided to forge his own path. The Duke of Sussex, his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and their young son have left the royals for a new life in Los Angeles.

Though the Sussexes’ new life has been planned and well-thought-out, things aren’t exactly going as they’d hoped. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the world to a screeching halt. Though the Sussexes have landed in LA, the launch of their new Archewell foundation along with any of the meetings and projects they were set to launch have all stalled.

Now, the Sussexes have been living in isolation within their Hollywood compound, as the British royal family is weathering the coronavirus storm halfway across the world. Now, one royal source believes the prince is having second thoughts.

Watching Meghan endure bullying and cruelty from the British press and public certainly put the Duke of Sussex on high-alert. After all, he watched is late mother entire deal with the same thing. Likewise, as his older brother Prince William prepares for his role as the future Crowned King, there was less and less room for him. Ultimately, he decided he could define himself elsewhere.

“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” he said during a speech shortly after announcing Megxit in January 2020. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always got it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Prince Harry desperately misses his family

Still, LA is a very different world than the prince’s beloved U.K. Just as tensions between the royals and the Sussexes were easing, the pandemic froze all non-essential travel across the globe.

“With the royals in isolation, there isn’t much they can do, although I suspect Harry will probably be feeling far from home right now,” royal expert Katie Nicholl said. “They won’t want to take any risks by traveling, and their priority is to keep Archie settled and in a routine. I think they will come to the U.K. when it is safer to do so.”

Amid Prince Charles’ COVID-19 diagnosis and recovery, the prince has kept in touch with his family. “Harry has been staying in touch with his father and loves his grandmother,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight. “Harry misses his family.”

Prince Harry may be having second thoughts about moving to LA

With the paparazzi, constant traffic, and numerous celebrities, it doesn’t seem like LA is an ideal place for a more peaceful and private life. Though its the Duchess of Sussex’s hometown, one royal source claims the prince may be having second thoughts.

“The Duke has not made an application for dual citizenship and I don’t think he will apply for a green card at any point,” a royal insider told The Times. If the duke chooses not to do this, this means he has no plans on being a permanent resident of the U.S.

This could mean that the duo is using their 12-month trial period to see how life truly is for them in LA. Another relocation back to Canada or the U.K. may be in the works in the future.
