Prince William and Kate Middleton have done their best to live as normal of lives as possible. The two met while in college — a similar love story as many ordinary couples. However, as the future king and queen consort, things are certainly much different in their daily lives than for commoners. But privately, William and Kate might be more ordinary than we thought. The couple’s recent interview let us in on their personalities, interests, and concerns — all of which could have come from anyone.

Prince William and Kate Middleton live anything but a normal life

William and Kate’s first few months of knowing each other was probably the most normal their lives as a couple had ever been. The two met while attending University of St. Andrews, and inside the campus walls, they were protected from paparazzi. William and Kate were only friends at first, but things turned romantic in 2002 after William saw Kate walking in a campus fashion show. And from there, nothing about their personal lives was ever the same.

William and Kate were married in 2011, and Kate has since become just as important of a royal as her husband. Though William is still the heir to the throne, Kate is his right-hand woman who has done just as much for the family in the past decade as her husband. The two are easily one of the world’s most famous couples.

William and Kate are trying to keep things as normal as possible for their kids

The duke and duchess are raising three kids in the midst of preparing to take the royal throne. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are all still young, and rumor has it that the two have not yet told their kids about the royal bloodline. William said at one point that he’s just trying to focus on being a father, and that the discussion about royalty will happen when he thinks George is ready. It might come later for Charlotte and certainly Louis.

The two drive their kids to school every day to keep a sense of normalcy for them. They also love to cook dinner with them; Kate once revealed that Charlotte and George enjoy helping out with salads and homemade pizzas.

William and Kate’s recent interview showed their more normal side

Amidst the coronavirus, William and Kate’s public appearances have been paused — but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still working hard every day. However, the duke and duchess took some time to interview with BBC last week, and their presence made them seem much more ordinary than we might have thought.

William expressed concern over his father and grandparents in terms of the coronavirus pandemic. Of course, Prince Charles has since recovered, but William said he worries about his grandparents because of their age. Kate, who is homeschooling the kids, also admitted that she felt “mean” for pretending the kids’ Easter break never happened; she just continued teaching them.

Express reported that Journalist Tina Daheley, who had interviewed the couple, later said that “the thing that always strikes me is how normal they are.” She added that it was just like “having a chat with people.” William and Kate are certainly not normal compared to commoners, but they still have a very down-to-earth way about them, and the same can’t always be said for other people in powerful positions.
