It’s been a very trying year for the British royal family so far. At the top of 2020, following a lengthy holiday on Vancouver Island which extended into the holiday season, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex announced they would be resigning as senior working members of the royal family.

The shocking decision came after the pair had battled intrusive reporting, tabloid stories, lies, as well as racist and sexist rhetoric spewed toward Meghan. Though the royals were seemingly thrown for a loop following the Megxit announcement, they threw their support behind the Sussexes.

Now amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the Sussexes relocation to Los Angeles, California, the royals are feeling extremely isolated, especially from Prince Harry. In fact, in the past months, the rumored tension between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William has reportedly eased, and the Cambridges are really missing having Prince Harry around.

Prince William and Prince Harry are closer than they’ve been in some time

The coronavirus pandemic, and Prince Charles’ diagnosis and subsequent recovery from COVID-19 put things in perspective for the royal brothers. Though they’d been very close in the past, their differing perspectives on royal life and the media were causing them to clash.

“Part of this role and part of this job and this family, being under the pressure that it’s under, stuff happens but we’re brothers,” Prince Harry revealed in 2019’s ITV’s Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. “We’ll always be brothers, and we’re certainly on different paths at the moment, but I’ll always be there for him, and he’ll always be there for me. We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy, but I love him dearly, and the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing, but you know, as brothers you have good days, you have bad days.”

Thankfully things are much better between the pair now. “There have been clearly some quite major rifts in that relationship, but things have got better and I know that William and Harry are in touch on the phone,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “They have done video calls together, they have done a lot of family birthdays and I think with Prince Charles not being well, that really forced the brothers to pick up the phone and get back in touch.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton still aren’t very close with Meghan Markle

Though the princes have begun to repair their relationship, the Cambridges never got the opportunity to truly bond with Meghan. Though they are polite, they still aren’t very close to her. Though Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan are friendly, they still have very little in common. “They couldn’t be further apart,” a source told US Weekly.

In fact, though Prince Harry is desperately missed, the Cambridges don’t seem to miss the drama that occurred between themselves and the Sussexes. “I think there is a sense of relief on both sides that this high drama is now a thing of the past,” Nicholl revealed. “The Sussexes are free to get on with their new lives [and] the Cambridges can get back to their old lives without all the upset and drama that was clearly a big deal behind the scenes”

Kate Middleton and Prince William desperately miss Prince Harry

Kate had her own special relationship with Prince Harry. He often referred to the duchess as the sister he never had. “She misses him and fears she’ll never be close to him again,” an insider told US Weekly. In fact, it seems like the Cambridges miss their trio with the Duke of Sussex.

“I think Kate and William miss Harry and Meghan to a degree, but certainly they miss Harry [being] around and part of their lives,” Nicholl explained.

We’re just thrilled everyone is getting along.
