Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently experiencing winter in England. However, the couple could have a change of scenery in the coming months. According to a source, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might be considering a royal tour to the Caribbean, a place with a much warmer climate.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly planning a trip to the Caribbean

According to the Daily Mail, representatives for William and Kate have been visiting the Caribbean as an “advance party” to prepare for the Cambridge to potentially travel there. One place the representatives were reportedly seen at is Belize’s Ambergris Caye island.

“Their people were very secretive and kept saying this had to be kept very quiet, but on a small island like Ambergris Caye it’s impossible to keep anything quiet for very long,” a source on the island told the news outlet. “They were talking about a four-day visit to Belize in March as part of a longer trip to this part of the world. They said William and Kate might visit the Caye and also go to mainland Belize. It’s all anyone here is talking about. We are so excited.”

A number of Caribbean countries are still a part of the Commonwealth, so it is not surprising for royals to travel there. For example, in November 2021, William’s father, Prince Charles, traveled to Barbados to mark the country’s transition to becoming a republic.

In addition to the Caribbean, there are also rumors that William and Kate might travel to the United States later this year. In 2022, William’s Earthshot Prize will be held in the U.S., which is why some royal experts believe the Cambridges might embark on a tour of the U.S. as well.

“A royal tour to the US is long overdue,” author Duncan Larcombe told Closer UK in the fall of 2021. “They are our most important allies and there is a huge appetite for the royals over there. Royal tours take around six months to plan in secret, so it’s likely there’s one in the works to visit later this year or next, and my best bet is it will be William and Kate.”

Larcombe added, “It’s part of their royal duties to visit the States, so they’ll go at some point, whether it’s next year or the near future.”

Although the Cambridges have not confirmed these rumors, William has expressed his excitement at the Earthshot Prize being held in the U.S.

“I’m thrilled that in 2022, The Earthshot Prize will be heading to the United States, where we will continue to spread this vital message of urgency, optimism and action,” he told People. “The urgency of the situation can’t be overstated. But through The Earthshot Prize, I want to show people across the world why there is reason to be hopeful.”

The couple previously visited the U.S. in 2011 and 2014.
