A Body Language Expert Revealed Prince William’s True Feelings When He Declared the British Royal Family Isn’t Racist

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed they left the British royal family due to racism and lack fo support. Now Prince William is clapping back at their racism claims, but his body language says so much more.

Prince William and the rest of the British royal family are reacting to Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussexes tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, Meghan talked about the misogynoir, bullying, and harassment that she endured at the hands of the British press and tabloids.

She also spoke openly about how isolated she felt in the royal fold. Meghan expressed that when she turned to the royal family for help, none was offered, which took a devastating toll on her mental health and well-being.

Perhaps most damning was when she and Prince Harry described a conversation the prince had with a royal family member regarding Archie’s skin tone. Now, Prince William is clapping back over accusations of racism, and his body language is very telling.

Why did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry leave the British royal family?

Meghan and Prince Harry’s reason for resigning as senior working members of the British royal family is extremely complex. However, Prince Harry said left in large part because of the racism that Meghan was enduring. “If the source of information is inherently corrupt or racist or bias, then that filters out to the rest of society,” Prince Harry said of the U.K. press.

The pair also described a rather horrific conversation when Meghan was pregnant with their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Harry explained that a family member had “concerns” over the baby’s skin tone.

Though he and Meghan declined to name names, saying only that this person was neither Queen Elizabeth II nor Prince Philip, this extremely racist conversation was very troubling for them.

Prince William says the British royal family isn’t racist

The British royal family has slowly been reacting to the Sussexes’ interview. Queen Elizabeth released a statement saying, “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Meanwhile, Prince Charles is said to be in a state of despair according to Vanity Fair. However, Prince William clapped back directly. During a visit to School2 in East London, Sky News reporter Inzamam Rashid asked, “Is the royal family a racist family?” Prince William replied, “We’re very much not a racist family.”

Prince William had strong emotions when reacting to the racism claims according to a body language expert

It appears that Prince William has a lot more thoughts and feelings about Prince Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah than he’s letting on. Prince William showed a “conflicting set of body language signals,” body language expert Judi James told Daily Mail.

“The fact he answered at all is probably indicative of strong feelings and he clearly wanted to show firmness and even leadership,” James said. “But his body language signals as he responds suggest a desire to stay in control and illustrate the queen’s words of ‘love’ for Harry and Meghan in her written reply to the Oprah interview.”

James also touched on the fact that the prince and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge appeared to be a united front on the issue. However, there was also something happening beneath the surface.

“Their facial expressions above the masks did seem to show moments of sadness or more reflective thinking, especially from William whose intense inward puckering between the brows made him look especially sad and thoughtful at moments,” she said.
