If you think the media frenzy surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is a lot, it’s nothing compared to the paparazzi and media attention that Princess Diana dealt with during her life. The Princess of Wales was just 19 when she married Prince Charles and became a royal, and she had no idea what she was getting into.

Everything from her haircuts to her expressions was analyzed and scrutinized. Though the princess eventually learned to deal with the paparazzi, many royal fans believe that that the cameras chasing her car through the streets of Paris contributed to her death.

In fact, the media’s obsession with the princess was so massive, that one photo of her is still one of the most expensive paparazzi shots of all time.

Princess Diana was the most photographed person in the world

Princess Diana was a very young woman when she was thrust onto the global stage as the bride of the future Crowned King. Beautiful and vivacious despite her sometimes shy demeanor, Princess Diana quickly became the most photographed person on the planet.

Though she did not enjoy the paparazzi’s obsession with her, the princess did learn how to get a good photo. Photographer Tim Rooke told Us Weekly,

What the Princess of Wales used to do, she would always just turn before she went into the building, so she’d just look at you at the last second, and it always produced great pictures. I think I did a picture of her, it was on her 36th birthday, which sadly was her last birthday, and she went to the Tate Gallery and there was a reception. She just turned, just before she went in, and it made an absolutely great picture.

This is how Princess Diana often tricked the paparazzi

In addition to getting good shots, the princess would also wear the photogs down when she did not want to be bothered with them. She enjoyed working out at the Chelsea Harbour Club Gym in London, but she did not like being greeted with paparazzi every time she left.

Therefore, she began wearing the same sweatshirts to the gym every day. This way the paparazzi weren’t getting any new content to sell or publish, and they eventually got bored and left her to her workouts.

One of the sweatshirts the princess often wore was sold at auction in 2019 for $53,000.
