Though they’ve been members of the British royal family for their entire lives, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have often been cast in the shadows. The Princesses of York have had to weather their parents’ various scandals and storms throughout their lives.

Then, when their cousins Prince William and Prince Harry wed, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex respectively, public interest and intrigue about the princesses seemed even more elusive.

However, amid Princess Beatrice’s stunning wedding and the women stepping in for their scandal-riddled father, Prince Andrew, more details about their private lives are being revealed, including some of the more lesser known aspects of their personalities.

Inside Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s roles in the British royal family

Despite Sarah, Duchess of York, and Prince Andrew’s various scandals including infidelity, bribery, and the prince’s latest entanglement with the FBI regarding his relationship to late sex offender, Jefferey Epstein Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie are generally very well-liked and reserved.

Both women have civilian day jobs but sometimes represent their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the British royal family at various royal engagements. Otherwise, they keep their personal lives and their friendships guarded.

Though the pair are very close with their grandparents, their status in the royal family may shift amid their father’s royal ousting and Prince Charles’ forthcoming role as the Crowned King. “From the moment they first became aware of Donald Trump’s MLAT request for Prince Andrew to give evidence in the Epstein case as a material witness, the palace started to phase out the Yorks,” royal biography Nigel Cawthorne told Express.

Princess Beatrice is more outspoken than Princess Eugenie

The York Princesses have rarely found themselves in the tabloid centerfolds, save for some fashion mishaps, and Princess Eugenie’s extravagant wedding. However, it’s well known that Princess Beatrice is pretty outspoken.

It has been reported that Princess Beatrice has had some tension with Kate in the past. The princess was reportedly miffed at the attention the duchess received when she began dating Prince William. Then during a 2008 roller skating charity event, Kate apparently gave Princess Beatrice the cold shoulder all evening. The Cambridges also did not invite Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s mother, Sarah, their wedding.

Princess Beatrice who has always been more outspoken took a stand in 2013 following Prince George’s birth. The Cambridges had decided against inviting the princess’ then-boyfriend, Dave Clark to their wedding because he and Prince William reportedly did not get along. When he also didn’t receive an invite to Prince George’s christening, the princess refused to attend.
