Being a member of the royal family seems exhausting. From all the official visits and charity work to constantly being photographed, the royal life is just as stressful as it is glamorous. Even for people who make it look easy, like Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince William’s wife is doing a fantastic job adjusting to the royal rules she must follow. Though she didn’t grow up as aristocracy, Kate Middleton has so much poise and grace. Still, there’s one small detail that she keeps messing up, and there’s a good chance Queen Elizabeth is sick of seeing the same mistake from her granddaughter-in-law.

Royal ladies must always adhere to strict standards of dress. Kate Middleton may look the part to the untrained eye, but there are some moments where she showed too much skin.

It all started before Kate Middleton married Prince William

It’s hard to fault Kate Middleton for dressing more provocatively in the years before she knew she’d marry Prince William. After all, skimpy tops and short shorts are becoming more socially acceptable every day. Middleton was just following the fashion trends of all her friends.

In fact, her most daring see-through outfit is arguably the very thing that caught her future husband’s eye. Middleton and Prince William were introduced early on during their time at University, but it wasn’t until he saw her on the runway in a next-to-naked dress that he finally asked her out.

The now infamous slip dress was sold at auction for about $125,000.

Her dresses keep blowing up

The Queen has a strict “pantyhose no matter what the weather” rule for good reason. During travel, Kate Middleton has been caught with her skirt up around her midsection, flashing anyone standing close enough by to snap a photo.

At this point it’s happened so many times that Middleton can’t call it an accident. And the Queen has likely noticed the faux pas since it’s something that rarely happens to her, even though she travels the most out of all the royals. One reason? Other royals are known to put weights on their skirts so they don’t blow around.

It’s windy on the tarmac – Middleton should know that by now and should opt for longer fitted skirts or pants on travel days. It’s just common sense.

Kate Middleton sometimes shows too much cleavage

Deciding the appropriate amount of cleavage to reveal is a very arbitrary decision. But when you’re a royal, the answer is always simple: When in doubt, cover it up. Over the years the Duchess of Cambridge has been caught wearing more than one low-cut top. Then there’s that time she went bra-less while attending a movie premiere.

Most of the time Kate Middleton keeps her assets well covered. But the couple of times she went bold probably raised a few eyebrows — including Queen Elizabeth’s.

She’s worn see-through dresses

A frock that looks totally innocent in your dressing room could photograph sheer under a photographer’s bright flashbulbs. It’s a mistake that many actresses have made and most likely wasn’t intentional by Kate Middleton. Still, shouldn’t her stylist have warned her?

Once Prince William becomes king, Kate Middleton will be free to dress how she wants (within reason). But until then, it would be wise for the Duchess of Cambridge to take special care when selecting her outfits!
