Fans are excited to see where Reacher Season 2 takes the hero’s story. And while details haven’t been announced, series’ lead Alan Ritchson revealed he hopes the Prime Video show covers the second Jack Reacher book, Die Trying

Reacher is based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series. Season 1, which debuted on Prime Video on Feb. 4, adapts the author’s very first Jack Reacher novel, Killing Floor. And the series sticks close to the source material, following the decorated military man’s harrowing adventures in small-town Margrave, Georgia

The show was a massive hit for Amazon Studios, as they revealed it as one of their top five most-watched series ever in its first week alone. As a result, Reacher was given a swift season 2 renewal just days after its premiere.

The Prime Video series stars Ritchson as Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise portrayed the character in the 2012 and 2016 Jack Reacher films based on Child’s ninth and eighteenth books, One Shot and Never Go Back

Alan Ritchson wants ‘Reacher’ Season 2 to cover ‘Die Trying’

Fans can’t wait to see where Jack Reacher ends up next. The show will follow different books for each season. And considering Child has written 26 Jack Reacher novels to date; there is plenty of source material to pull from.

Ritchson is a huge fan of Child’s work who prepared for the role of his hero by diving into every one of the author’s books. And for Reacher Season 2, the actor hopes the show keeps in line with Child’s series and covers book 2.

“I would want to go to Die Trying,” the actor told Cinema Blend. “I would just keep going in order. As I read, I read them all sequentially, although they bounce back and forth in time, as far as the story is concerned. Each book got better than the last. I loved Die Trying, and I’d love to see that one made someday.”

So what is ‘Die Trying’ about?

The first season of Reacher and Child’s first book Killing Floor, follow Jack Reacher’s arrival in Margrave, his arrest, and his investigation into the town’s corruption and his brother’s murder.  The season ends with Reacher saying goodbye to his new friends, Roscoe (Willa Fitzgerald) and Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), as he reveals his plans to keep moving.

Die Trying, which is not connected to Killing Floor, picks up with Reacher in Chicago. Upon his arrival in the Windy City, the hero spots a woman on crutches trying to cross the street with her dry cleaning. As he attempts to help her, Reacher and the woman are kidnapped.

They are held in the back of a dark van and driven across the country. The two are dropped off at a remote cabin, not knowing where they are.

Reacher soon learns that the woman, Holly Johnson, is an FBI agent. But there is more to her story than she first let’s on. As the pair figure out who captured them and why Reacher discovers how high up Holly’s connections go and what’s really at stake.

It sure sounds like an exciting premise for Reacher Season 2. Hopefully, fans will know more about the hero’s upcoming story when the season begins production.
