Some fans thought it was sweet to see the dogs “earn their keep.” One fan noted, “It is important for them to acknowledge their rightful place in the Drummond Empire. They would also do well as the greeters at The Merc. Who could resist those faces?”

Still other fans pointed out that they might not be the quintessential ranch dogs, but the hounds are living it up. “Living in Wyoming, I just don’t think of Bassets as ranch dogs,” one person commented. “Just proves you can be whatever you want to be!!!!”

‘The Pioneer Woman’ star called 1 of the dogs her ‘favorite man in the world’

The Drummond family pets are so adored. On Oct. 6, The Pioneer Woman star posted photos of her sweet dog Rusty (and Lucy made a cameo, too!) and she explained just how special this Basset hound is.

“His eyes are mysterious orbs of amber, like the one on John Hammond’s cane in Jurassic Park, minus the prehistoric mosquitos,” Drummond wrote in the caption. “Rusty is my favorite man in the world and I’m so obsessed. Also, look at Lucy’s tongue in the last pic.”

Drummond shared her obsession for the breed in a June 2020 blog post on The Pioneer Woman website. “I’ve loved bassets all my life,” she explained. “Their excess skin, floppy ears, droopy eyes, and hilarious personalities keep me entertained and make my heart leap.”
