‘RHOA’: Nene Leakes Explains Why Marlo Hampton Won’t Get a Peach
Nene Leakes was the tastiest peach on The Real Housewives of Atlanta for 10 seasons. The reality TV personality became a household name as the star of the Bravo series. One of her friends on the show, Marlo Hampton, has been a “friend of” since season 4. However, Hampton has never been offered a peach and Leakes recently explained why she doesn’t think she’ll ever get one.
Marlo Hampton wants an opportunity
Hampton is one of the personalities that has made RHOA a big success. Despite never being a full-time cast member on the Bravo series, Hampton is one of the most recognizable stars of the show. After 10 years on the show appearing in a “friend of” capacity, Hampton recently pled her case for getting that peach.
“At least give me a try,” she recently told Entertainment Tonight in an interview about being offered a full-time role. “I’ve seen so many girls go and come. At least let me try. Let me go back to being a friend if it doesn’t work.”
Fans of RHOA know that the housewives hold a peach in the opening sequence of the show. Having a peach means that you’re a full-time housewife. Even though Bravo has not offered her a bigger role on the show, Hampton is grateful for the opportunities she has been given.
“I consider Bravo family,” she added. “Now I’m not going to sit here like, ‘Oh, Bravo haven’t helped me at all…’ They have, it’s a great platform. So I would love to have a peach at this point in my life, because guess what? My fans deserve it.”
Marlo Hampton gives ideas on what she would show
Hampton is ready to open up and lower her guard so fans can see more of her lifestyle on the show. During the same interview, the fashion maven offered ideas on what she would feature in front of the Bravo cameras.
“I’ve been around too long for you guys not to really come into this house, see when I’m crying, see when I’m sad, hear me talk to [my adopted nephews’] mom,” Hampton said of what fans would see if offered a peach. “Just really get to know who is Marlo besides the story people are taking and just painting for you. You don’t really get to see me within an hour show, that’s edited and I’m not a peach-holder. You don’t get to, it’s so much more of me to know.”
Nene Leakes doesn’t think Marlo Hampton will get a peach
Hampton and Leakes have been friends over the course of their time together on RHOA. However, when the latter appeared on Hollywood Unlocked she didn’t think Hampton would be offered a peach by the network.
“When you’ve been doing something for so long, I don’t see the network giving you a peach, I just don’t,” Leakes explained. “You have given them everything for [a certain] amount of pay, why do they need to give you a peach? For what? What’s going to change? They get everything they need right now. What are they going to get when they give you a peach? All they are going to get is a photo of you holding a peach.”
Leakes said that Hampton has already been open to the Bravo cameras and if they ask, she would comply without having a peach.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is expected to start filming season 14 over the summer with no cast confirmation as of now.
