Kenya Moore and Marc Daly’s marriage fell apart while filming ‘RHOA’

Moore returned to RHOA after taking one season off. She was eager to show fans her happily ever after with her new husband and baby. But shortly before the start of season 12, Moore announced that she and Daly were separating after only two years of marriage.

Their marital issues appeared to stem from Moore suppressing her feelings about Daly’s stern treatment toward her. She admitted in a tearful conversation with Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey that Daly was verbally abusive at times and appeared to be checked out of the marriage.

‘RHOA’ producers say filming Kenya Moore and Marc Daly was uncomfortable

While fans blasted Daly for his treatment of his wife, producers of the show explained in a recent interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast that the tension between Daly and Moore was much worse than what was shown on the show. In fact, the production crew explained that it was clear from the beginning of filming that their marriage was not on firm ground.

“It was clear in our opinion that they just didn’t get along,” they said. They also painted the mood as being “definitely uncomfortable” whenever Moore and Daly were filmed. Despite such, they insisted that Moore never tried to hide her marital issues.

“[Kenya] never tried to put a positive spin on her marriage,” they said. “She was very open and honest about what was going on.” But as filming continued, production said the tense moments between Moore and Daly intensified. “It only got progressively worse as we continued filming,” they noted.

It was a known fact that Daly was not a fan of the show and never wanted his life to play out publicly. Andy Cohen revealed during the season 10 reunion that Daly informed producers that he felt the show was a negative portrayal of Black women.

During the episode in which Daly blew up at production during his charity event and told them he would not longer film, production noted that Daly was in a “weird mood” the entire day. The production crew also corroborated Eva Marcille and Cynthia Bailey’s claims of Daly not being polite.

Despite the embarrassment and heartbreak of season 12, Moore revealed at the reunion that she and Daly are trying to make their marriage work. According to Moore, Daly has done a complete 180 and is fighting for his family. She explained that though they currently live in separate cities, the two are in virtual marital counseling.
