Lisa Vanderpump lobbied to not raise minimum wages

Vanderpump had previously made the news late in 2021 when she was fighting for her businesses. As a restauranteur, Vanderpump needs to keep her restaurant business profitable so she can continue to provide a pleasant experience to her customers. The PUMP, TomTom, and SUR owner, recently faced backlash after it was reported she lobbied against raising the minimum wage in West Hollywood.

“I just implore you to really give this a lot of thought because I do believe if we raise the minimum wage now it’s going to be counterproductive,” Vanderpump said during the virtual meeting (via KTTV).

Vanderpump was fighting against a mandate to raise minimum wages that would benefit the employees but would be more costly to her margins. Many people on social media called out the entrepreneur and she released a statement saying she was not opposed to the minimum wage hike and clarified her stance.

“I do not oppose raising minim wage, that’s not what I said, tipped employees do not work for minimum wage, A tier [sic] structure would work for all, I do believe WEHO lawyers are looking into that,” she tweeted.
