Teddi Mellencamp confirms ‘RHOBH’ exit

Mellencamp was at the center of controversy of RHOBH for the last two seasons. In season 9 she confronted Lisa Vanderpump for trying to drag her in the “puppy gate” scandal to allegedly get back at co-star Dorit Kemsley. For season 10, Mellencamp found herself at the crossfire when she delivered the news to Denise Richards that Brandi Glanville claimed she had hooked up with her.

Despite setting up the two plotlines the drove each season, Mellencamp was cut from the show and her contract was not renewed. She made the announcement in an Instagram video that has been lauded for being so straightforward.

“I don’t want to bore you but I’d figure I could give you a little update on what’s going on,” Mellencamp posted on her Instagram Stories. “Recently found out that my contract as a housewife is not being renewed.”

“You heard it here last,” she later posted on Instagram. “Yes, it’s true, I am not coming back to RHOBH. Thank you Bravo, Evolution, Andy Cohen, and all of the amazing women for the support (and the shade) for the past three years. Back to the shadows I go.”

Andy Cohen applauds her message

After it was general knowledge that Mellencamp was cut from RHOBH, Andy Cohen praised her announcement video. The Real Housewives executive producer said that he liked how the accountability coach kept herself accountable.

“Teddi Mellencamp released what I thought was one of the most, no BS, ‘I’m leaving’ announcements on record,” Cohen said on Radio Andy. “I thought that was really good. She’s an accountability coach. So she checked herself.”

Cohen also denied that the decision of not signing Mellencamp for another season was not because of the controversy around her business. The latter referred to the weight-loss service she offers that some called dangerous.

“Now there’s a whole controversy online about her business,” Cohen said on his SiriusXM show Radio Andy. “That’s going on now. I do want to say, people are speculating that the online chatter about her business led to her dismissal. I just want to say because I think it’s important that one had absolutely nothing to do with the other.”

So, why did Teddi Mellencamp get axed?

There has been speculation as to why Mellencamp was not picked up for another season and she recently addressed why she was let go.

“I think it’s because you didn’t see a lot of me, other than in drama this year,” Mellencamp revealed in Us Weekly’s Getting Real with the Housewives podcast.

“If you only see me when I’m in an argument, it’s hard to see the whole picture. I wish we could have seen more of the fun stuff but it’s a TV show.”

Mellencamp also shared that she wouldn’t rule out returning as a guest star on the show. However, it’s something that she would have to think about when the moment comes as she wouldn’t want to return to make her feel uncomfortable.
