Kelly Dodd of The Real Housewives of Orange County is one of the most polarizing stars of the Bravo franchise. The reality TV personality has been accused of being a racist and has also been called out for her insensitive remarks about COVID-19. At the season 15 reunion, Andy Cohen brought up the backlash Dodd’s gotten on social media and she fired back making things uncomfortable.

Why did Kelly Dodd say Andy Cohen has been accused of being anti-American?

Cohen had to press Dodd about her insensitive remarks about social issues on social media. The RHOC Season 15 reunion host said that Dodd has been at the center of controversy for her social media antics than her drama on the show. Cohen said that he has received so many messages on social media calling for Dodd’s axing.

That’s where Dodd fired back and said that her following has remained healthy and has not lost any followers. She also added that people on social media tell her that Cohen is anti-American because he dislikes Donald Trump.

“I mean, the amount of messages that I get that you’re uneducated, you’re putting out misinformation, you’re behaving like a moron,” Cohen said before Dodd fired back.

“I get them too, saying that you’re anti-American, that you put your political beliefs out there,  that they don’t want to watch a political show,” Dodd fired back.

“I’m anti-American because I don’t like Donald Trump?” Cohen asked.

“Yeah,” said Dodd.

The other housewives were surprised that Dodd went after Cohen, an executive producer on the show. Many fans took to social media to question if Dodd had sealed her fate with that comment and will be fired from the show.

Kelly Dodd had apologized before

Weeks ago, Dodd had made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live where she had addressed the problematic stances that landed her in hot water.

“Of course I regret saying that,” Dodd said of her “thinning the herd” comment. “It was a stupid thing for me to say, it was insensitive and I apologize if I hurt or offended anybody. That wasn’t really my intention… I got really freaked out about it. In hindsight, it was the stupidest thing I’ve ever said.”

Although she regretted saying that COVID-19 was God’s way of thinning the herd, she has continued to be an anti-masker and downplayed the severity of the pandemic ever since then. However, that didn’t stop her from trying to sound coherent in explaining why she allegedly believes masks are good.

“At first I was misinformed. I didn’t realize not wearing a mask… I hate it, I’m claustrophobic, I can’t stand wearing a mask. Now I understand the science behind it and I am ready, willing, and able to wear a mask. And I know it’s important because I don’t want to get sick and I don’t want to get other’s sick.”

When Dodd was given a hat that mocked the Black Lives Matter movement, she was called a racist. During her WWHL appearance, Dodd tried to explain what had happened.

“That Drunk Wives Matter hat was given to me, I was trying everything on from my shower. My girlfriend gave it to me, she’s had it for a couple of years,” Dodd explained as Cohen is seen cringing at her answer. “I believe in equality, I believe in Black Lives Matter, and if I offended anybody by thinking I was mocking… I don’t want to hurt… I believe in Black Lives Matter and equality.”

Bravo has not officially announced who will be returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 16, but it will shock no one if Dodd is not asked back.
