Kelly Dodd of The Real Housewives of Orange County is no stranger to controversy. The Bravo star is not afraid to speak her mind regardless of how popular her opinion might be or not. Dodd is once again facing backlash for what she said about her ex-husband Michael Dodd right in front of her daughter in a since-deleted Instagram Story.

What did Kelly Dodd say about Michael Dodd?

It’s no secret that Kelly and Michael had a turbulent relationship. Their marital woes were chronicled on RHOC and they both ended up in divorce. Kelly and Michael share custody of their daughter Jolie. The reality TV personality recently shared a video where she is seen ranting against the father of her daughter, right in front of her.

“Jolie, aren’t you glad that you have a real dad like Rick Leventhal instead of your father Michael, who hasn’t even seen… How long have you seen your dad,” Kelly says in the video while Jolie covers her face in embarrassment.

“Like five months,” Jolie replies by covering her mouth.

“Yeah, Jolie’s dad is non-existent deadbeat Michael Dodd,” Kelly added.

Kelly recently married Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal. The video was not followed up with an explanation as to why Kelly is upset with her ex-husband.

Kelly Dodd faces backlash for a controversial hat

Leading up to Kelly’s wedding to Rick, her girlfriends threw her a bridal shower to celebrate her upcoming nuptials. One of the gifts was a hat with the words: “Drunk Wives Matter.” After Kelly shared a photo of herself wearing the cap, social media erupted in calling her out.

Many RHOC fans believed Kelly was mocking the Black Lives Matter movement. Although the play on words was not lost on anyone, some fans recalled her controversial statements about not knowing or dating any Black guys.

“Over the weekend at my bridal shower, I got lots of gifts and briefly displayed them,” Kelly apologized on Instagram after the backlash. “One was a hat with a play on words since I’m about to be a wife, I’m on a Housewives TV show and might be drunk once in a while.”

Kelly said that she did not want to offend anyone and the hat was not meant to mock the movement.

“It was not intended to offend or make any kind of statement,” Dodd added. “Of course I support Black lives and racial equality. Thank you all.”

Kelly Dodd gets attacks from former housewives

One former housewife that Kelly is not closed with anymore is Vicki Gunvalson. The OG of the OC took offense to Kelly saying that when she was on RHOC the show wasn’t real.

Kelly made these statements after Gunvalson revealed the reality series had been cut down in episodes, something the former denied.

“It will be the best season yet. We filmed during COVID… real reality, not fake bulls**t like she did for 10 years. Emmy-winning season watch!” Kelly replied to a fan on Instagram.

In recent days, Gunvalson fired back at Kelly’s claims and didn’t hold back her opinion.

“Let’s hope this season actually is a ‘great, Emmy award-winning’ one as Kelly is toting… because if it’s not, she has nothing to fall back on, as gold-digging certainly is not a career,” Gunvalson told Celeb Magazine.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
